We can try to answer some of those questions but each person has their own reason for why their resolution didn't come true. We can blame a lot of things; material things, other people's influences, and supernatural forces are just a few of the things that we point our fingers to. We must not, however, point the finger at any of that. We have to look at ourselves look inside to see if we are truly strong enough to reach our goal. This resolution we make must be reachable, for example, we can not say "My resolution for this New Year is to finally buy myself that HD TV I've always wanted," if we know that we have financial problems. We will only get in deeper debt and our goal will not be reached. Then we have to start from scratch.
All people of this world, you me, your cousin, my cousin, my sister, your aunt; we all have this problem and it's sad to say that we don't do anything about it. We always say "Well, its a New Year, time to give that old resolution a try." How can we say that when we haven't even attempted fixing our problem within us in the first place? We always shoot for things that are above our heads and fall hard to the ground. Our dreams crumble and we fall into a state of depression. That is NOT the way to start off a New Year. We should look at ourselves and try to solve the problem from the get-go. I can honestly say, as a newly converted Christian, that I have found strength and trust in God. I could rely on God for anything even my New Year's resolution. Now, just because I am a Christian does not mean that I will accomplish my goal. I still have to follow the rules sort of speak and keep track of what I'm doing. Being a Christian just gives me that peace and that ease of mind because I know that God will be there if I fall. God is there guiding me and he will help me all the way. Its up to me, however, to set my goal; a realistic goal that I know I can accomplish.
If you are not a Christian you can still try to be realistic and set a reachable goal for yourself. Of course, if you have Christ by your side this New Year and your life will have that foundation, that Rock to support you. You will have the support of the divine Lord, Jesus Christ, who gave his life for us. This will play a strong roll for any goal you set for yourself in 2008.
My beloved reader, keep this article in your mind and in your heart when the New Year comes. Always think about what limits you have. Thin about the strengths and weaknesses you have. Most importantly, however, think about what God has to offer. Know that God is by your side, his love and his strength lay upon you. That, in turn, will help you reach your New Year's Resolution.
