New Year's Resolution: I Resolve Never to Forget, Memory* (Kyrielle Sonnet)

Mary Naylor confirmed
A prism of life dwelled within her,

Babies could blossom, grow, move, stir,

For she could co-create new life,

She, who would protect them, at any price.

Their darkness pooled, wild and cruel,

For they obeyed the strongman who ruled.

Their sticks hit her, poked her, and sliced,

She, who would protect them, at any price.

Who knows the strength of mother love,

So gently it falls, like feathers from a dove.

I resolve never to forget her life,

She who would protect them, at any price.

A strong man retained his power,

Memory reached her last hour..

She voted wrong, she cast the die,

She, who would protect them, at any price.

A prism of life dwelled within her,

She who would protect them at any price.
