New York City Hosts First Vegetarian Food Festival April 3rd
Not Just for Vegetarians - Foodies, Flexitarians, and Locavores Welcome Too!
The NYC Vegetarian Food Festival isn't just calling on vegetarians to come out. The website proclaims, "F oodies, locavores, vegetarians, vegans, flexitarians, and those who simply want to find out more about living a healthy, sustainable lifestyle, this is the festival for you!"
A list of vendors is not available currently for who will be there. To encourage as many people to come as possible the tickets to the NYC Vegetarian Food Festival are free. Sarah Gross, founder of Rescue Chocolate, teamed up with Nira Paliwoda to create the food festival that will be held in Chelsea's Altman Building ( 135 West 18th Street, between 6th and 7th Avenues) on April 3rd between 10am and 6pm.
Gross and Paliwoda created the vegetarian food event because there was "no single event bringing the range of vegan food together in one place." In a press release for the NYC Vegetarian Food Festival Gross commented, "New York has been desperately needing an event to shine the spotlight on the area's vibrant vegan food producers, restaurants, and luminaries. This festival will bring the whole spectrum of vegetarian foods, nutrition experts, celebrity chefs, and inspirational lifestyle coaches together in one place."
According to the press release, the NYC Vegetarian Food Festival will showcase a bounty of cruelty-free foods, have live music, food contests, and will offer tables for various non-profit groups. One of which is Mercy For Animals, a non-profit animal advocacy organization, who will be passing out literature and vegetarian starter kits.
Victoria Moran, author of Living a Charmed Life, will be a featured speaker at the vegetarian food festival where she will discuss Leading a Charmed Life and The Love-Powered Way to Lifelong Wieght Loss. Moran is also the author of Younger by the Day and Fit from Within. She host a radio show every 4th Wednesday of the month between 9-10am P T that focuses on tips for vegetarian and vegan living.
Tables are still open for exhibitors and the festival is still looking for sponsors. For more information visit their main website NYC Vegetarian Food Fest.
