According to the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Mayor Michael R.Bloomberg of New York City has announced the new launch of the World Trade Center Health website that will be offering health answers to those who were directly associated with 9/11.

While speaking on his weekly radio address Mayor Bloomberg happily announced the launch of the World Trade Center Health website. The site can be visited by going to http://www.nyc.gov/html/doh/wtc/html/home/home.shtml. The launch of this site will offer residents of New York City one stop information regarding health issues that have stemmed from 9/11. The key features of the site include, health information that targets specific groups, detailed information on where to get evaluated and treated, scientific literature and information on research that is ongoing, links to several different financial assistance programs, links to social service and environmental groups as well as groups pertaining to 9/11, and many resources to health care professionals.

With the website, The World Trade Center Health Registry will continue to monitor the health of the people who were exposed to the World Trade Center disaster, many who suffer from asthma and post traumatic stress disorder. The New York Health Department is now starting to resurvey over 71,000 registrants to keep a close watch on their health situation. Since the survey began, nearly 60 percent have responded. This survey can be viewed on the website as well. New York City has committed over $100 million to ensure that the victims of 9/11 get the health care they deserve and need.

Mayor Bloomberg made a statement regarding the website by saying "On Tuesday, New Yorkers, and all Americans, will mark the sixth anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, It will be a solemn occasion for remembrance and renewal, a day for us to reflect on those we lost and to recommit ourselves, as a city and as a nation. To all those whose health has been affected by 9/11. Today, I'm pleased to announce that we're completing another key initiative of my 9/11 health panel with the launch of a new website that consolidates the latest information about 9/11-related health issues. Including where to go for free treatment and medication. We want people to know more about the potential health effects of 9/11 so that they can reach out for assessment and services."

September 11, 2001, at 8:46 a.m., American Airlines flight 11 crashed into the North Tower. Seventeen minutes later, United Airlines flight 175 crashed into the South Tower. Both planes were hijacked by the Al Qaeda. An hour after the first crash, the North Tower collapsed and disintegrated, following was the South Tower, not more than 30 minutes later. Ultimately more than 3,000 people died in the 9/11 incident that changed the lives of everyone in the United States.

Today marks the 6th Anniversary of the World Trade Center attacks. Take a moment to reflect on what you have in your life, and never once take it for granted.
