Museum of Modern Art (MOMA)
MOMA is located on 53rd street in Manhattan between 5th and 6th Avenue. MOMA houses modern art from the most famous of artists including, Van Gogh, Monet, and Pollack. Every Friday night there is Target Fridays where Target picks up the bill and you get in for free from 4:00pm-8:00pm. You have to get tickets which are free and usually left on the counter when you first walk in. It tends to be busy but it is worth it, and in the summer you can really enjoy the outdoor sculpture garden.
Museum of Natural History
A place of wonders located on Manhattan's Upper West Side on 81st Street right off of Central Park West. The Museum houses Dinosaurs, Blue whales, and amazing taxidermy. There is also an attached planetarium but the cost for that is extra. Everyday the museum offers suggested admission so there is never a need to pay the full $15 fee. I have paid $1.00 before when I was really low on cash and nobody said a thing. The admission covers 45 museum halls as well as entrance fees to the Rose Center for Space and Earth.
The Whitney Museum of American Art
The Whitney is located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan on 75th Street and Madison Avenue. This museum houses American art through the years featuring artists such as Warhol, and Hopper. Every Friday night from 6:00pm-9:00pm the Whitney offers pay what you wish. It gets crowded but not too many people know about it so it isn't as crowded as MOMA.
Metropolitan Museum of Art
The MET is one of the most famous museums and also one of the largest. It is located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan on 82nd Street and 5th Avenue. It houses so much art, sculpture, and history it takes over a day to see it all. King Tut's tomb is on display as well as many other artifacts from ancient Greece, Rome, and Egypt. It also houses Modern art as well. Like the Museum of Natural History it offers daily suggested admission and I again have gone and paid $1.00 with no issues.
The Museum at FIT
