New York City Nightlife, Part I

Dusk Lounge
The Dusk Lounge is simply one of the best billiard/pool lounges in New York City. It also happens to be one of the cleanest, being ranked in the top four of the best restrooms in the country by Esquire magazine. Complete with a beautiful bar that serves Tequilas and single Malt scotches, the lounge is well equipped. Hidden away with no visible markings denoting that it is the lounge at the street level the Dusk lounge truly does feel like a "secret hideout" as described on its web site, where sophisticated and simply trendy people can come to congregate or simply be left alone.

Pressure
One step inside of Pressure and you will simply be amazed by the aesthetical prowess of the lounge. A definite must for any 'upscale' young adults that feel the need to socialize in a grand fashion. With plasma screen televisions strung about and two massive screens that are also used for screening, the lounge maintains a futuristic appeal which is also seen in the very furnishings that you'll be seated in. However, the futuristic look does not sacrifice any comfort within the décor. Billiards also comprises one section of the lounge, for those who simply need to get a game in or feel it's a great icebreaker. Plus, they serve pizza-good New York Pizza.

Fat Cat
Renowned for his casual simplicity, Fat Cat offers some of the best jazz in the city in a relaxed environment. As mellow as they come, there are no futuristic gimmicks or anything of the nature that would be used to attract any particular crowd. The bottom line is, if you're interested in a place to relax and simply listen to some music or hang out with your friends, this simply isn't a place that should be overlooked. Plus, you might even find yourself playing pool with some live jazz as the soundtrack of the game. You never know.

Prohibition
Prohibition bills itself as: "Prohibition is an upscale restaurant/bar where one can come with a date and have an intimate dinner or a bottle of wine, or with friends just to hang out and listen to live music" and there quite simply is no denying it. The name of the restaurant/bar comes from the décor, which is made out to resemble the '20s and early '30s. The restaurant menu ranges from casual samplers such as macaroni and cheese and Buffalo wings to the more serious dinners.

Slate
The most important thing to mention about Slate besides its beautiful restaurant and alluring PLUS lounge is that its billiard tables extremely handsome; all thirty or so of them. Professionally maintained and a joy enough to simply sit and look at them, you might find yourself wanting to stay longer than you had originally planned. The restaurant's menu is actually rather appealing, especially within the PLUS lounge where things can see a price jump.
