Highline Park
One of the unusual attractions in New York City is Highline Park. This is one of Greenwich Village's newest green spaces on the eastern side of Manhattan. Highline Park was built on a very old elevated train track. Widened and made to look new, it's the perfect place to view traffic down below. There are plenty of benches to take a breather while you are walking along one of the great trails. There are even elevators at certain locations for those who tire easily. What makes Highland Park and unusual New York City attraction is the chaise lounges, operated using the old train track to move the lounges. Along the wide and pass their native plants to enjoy, stairways up to the park and when you are done visit the Chelsea market. There are plans to extend the park a few more miles north to Madison Square Garden. This is definitely a necessary site to see and the fee to visit is free.
Long Island
Other unusual attractions in New York City include Long Island. Long Island is 118 miles long and is the longest island in the United States. Long Island consists of four different counties that inhabit 8 million residents. It is also home to two major New York City airports JFK and LaGuardia. Long Island has numerous universities and several campuses like the Merchant Marine Academy. There also hung to private schools like Hofstra. Long Island is a suburb of New York City and connected with rail lines and major roads to anywhere you want to travel.
The Retail Emporium
This unusual attraction in New York City is one of the best malls for shopping. This mall has two of New York's best but very expensive dining rooms, the Chef Thomas Keller's Per Se and the Masa Takayama's. This is fine dining at its best. These two dining rooms located on the fourth floor. The retail emporium is located in Columbus Circle at the southwest corner of Central Park. The Stone Rose Lounge offers spectacular views of the park. Enjoy wonderful jazz music at Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola. Not only does the retail emporium offer fine dining and music but they also offer over 50 high-end stores to shop. There is no fee to enter the retail emporium.
Film Forum
Other unusual New York City attractions include the Film Forum. This is a film lovers dream. Here you get to see movies you might otherwise only read about in the New York Times. The film forum shows indie features and documentaries from the best foreign art Cinema from the world's top film festivals. It is here that you will see Woody Allen and Pam Grier movies. Bowery Ballroom
One of the best unusual attractions in New York City for music lovers is the Bowery Ballroom. This is the best music spot New York has to offer. It is here you see up-and-coming national acts in this two-level music venue. The Bowery Ballroom has New York's best sound system. Downstairs offers a wonderful bar to enjoy a few drinks before the show.
