On Sunday January 13, the New York Giants stunned the football world by beating the number one ranked NFC football team, the Dallas Cowboys on the road by a score of 21-17. The Cowboys had been favored to win the game at home but lost after their final drive of the game came to a crashing halt.

In the first half of the game, it appeared as though the Giants defense wouldn't be able to stop the Dallas Cowboys. After the Giants scored in their first possession of the game with an Eli Manning pass to wide receiver Amani Toomer, the Cowboys offense went to work, scoring touchdowns on their next two possessions. The Cowboys first touchdown had been to wide receiver Terrel Owens who had been suffered from a high ankle sprain which had kept him out of practice during the last two weeks. In the second quarter of the game, the Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo led a 20 play, 10 minute drive down the entire length of the field to give the Cowboys a 14-7 lead with 50 seconds left in the second quarter. Then the momentum of the game shifted drastically when Eli Manning and the Giants offense got the ball with 45 seconds left in the first half. Instead of running the ball to wind day the game clock to end the half, the Giants became aggressive and drove down the field quickly, scoring on another Amani Toomer touchdown pass from quarterback Eli Manning. This ended the halftime with a 14-14 score. However, for the rest of the game, the Giants defense would play extremely well.

In the second half, the Giants pass rush finally got to Tony Romo as errant throws and dropped balls hurt the Cowboys offense. The Cowboys would take the lead on a field goal to make the score 17-14, but the Giants would go on to score the game winning touchdown on a Brandon Jacobs touchdown run. Jacobs would finish the day with 54 yards, splitting time in the backfield with rookie Ahmad Bradshaw who had 34 yards rushing.

Eli Manning showed once again that he will be the quarterback of the future for the Giants. While he didn't have an amazing game, he had a solid game in which he didn't turn the ball over and the led the Giants to scoring opportunities when the Giants needed it the most. Eli Manning finished the game with 163 yards passing and 2 passing touchdowns. For Eli Manning, the win was a little bittersweet as his brother Peyton Manning lost earlier in the day to the San Diego Chargers.

The NY Giants will go on to the NFC championship game to play Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers in Green Bay. For the Giants, the road to the Super Bowl only gets harder. The Giants had lost to the Packers earlier during the regular season.
