New York Giants Vs Green Bay Packers: Las Vegas Line & Pick Against the Spread

New York Giants and Green Bay Packers Fight for Their NFL Playoff Lives

Todd Jacobs
The New York Giants and Eli Manning travel to the frozen tundra of Green Bay December 26th to face a desperate Green Bay Packers team. The New York Giants are still in the NFL Playoff hunt this season and the Green Bay Packers could be hanging by a thread. The Packers played well against the New England Patriots but could not hold on with their back up quarterback.

This game will be a battle among defenses and will determine which team has more heart. Eli Manning led his team to three consecutive road wins to get to the Super Bowl in the past and now he will be under the gun to win what is essentially an elimination game for the NFL Playoffs. The devastating loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in their last game may be too difficult to overcome for the New York Giants.

New York Giants Offense vs Green Bay Packers Defense

Eli Manning and the New York Giants offense is bred for cold weather. They have a solid running game with Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw and their passing game is still solid despite key injuries to their wide receivers all season long.

By the numbers the New York Giants running offense is knocking out 148 yards per game. Brandon Jacobs has fresh legs and he is running through holes he was avoiding early in the season. They key to this game will be weather and the passing game. The New York Giants are passing for just under 250 yards per game and Hakeem Nicks is back in the line up.

The Green Bay Packers defense is led by Clay Mathews and they have flexed their muscles on several occasions this season. Mathews and the defense has a shut out under their belt and they have been holding their opponents to less than 15 points per game.

The cornerback play for the Green Bay Packers is still among the best in the NFL. The loss of Al Harris has not hurt them as much as expected and Charles Woodson is containing the NFL's best wide receivers. The pass defense for the Green Bay Packers is holding opponents to less than 200 yards per game and their run defense has been a little weak. Against the run they are allowing just under 120 yards per game. The Green Bay Packers defense and the New York Giants offense are very even and neither has an edge in this game.

New York Giants Defense vs Green Bay Packers Offense

Defense has been the unsung hero on this New York Giants team. The front defensive line is the heart and soul of this team and if Osi Umenyiora and Justin Tuck are in good health it could be a long day for Aaron Rodgers. The New York Giants defense has also earned a reputation as a team that knocks quarterbacks out of games. In the Chicago Bears game they knocked two quarterbacks out.

The key match ups to watch in this game will be the New York Giants secondary against the Green Bay Packers wide receivers. The New York Giants defense is allowing just 185 yards through the air and the Green Bay Packers offense is generating over 250 yards per game through the air.

Aaron Rodgers should be back under center for this game and the Green Bay Packers offense should be airing it out. Rodgers will be under pressure to dig the Green Bay Packers out in this game. The running game has been non existent and they are averaging just 98 yards per game on the ground with Brandon Jackson in the back field. The Green Bay Packers offense have a slight edge over the New York Giants defense.
