New York Giants Vs Washington Redskins: Las Vegas Line & Pick Against the Spread

New York Giants Look to Finish Season on High Note Versu Washington Redskins

Todd Jacobs
The New York Giants take on the Washington Redskins in a game that only holds importance to the New York Giants on January 2nd. Mike Shanahan's first season as the Washington Redskins head coach has been curious. The benching of his star offensive player, Donovan McNabb was preceded by the Washington Redskins highest paid defensive player being suspended for the remainder of the season.

New York Giants Offense vs Washington Redskins Defense

Eli Manning and the New York Giants are looking to back into an NFL Playoff run and the Washington Redskins are looking to keep their pride intact against their NFC East foes. Manning has made it known to his teammates that this is his team and he plans to lead them deep into the NFL Playoffsdespite major setbacks in recent games. This game will either prove they are ready to step up or it will provide the potential for an early exit.

The New York Giants offense is averaging over 144 yards per game on the ground with Ahmad Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs providing the fire power out of the back field. The passing game has been solid but not spectacular this season. The absence of Hakeem Nicks for several games has hurt this team along with several other injuries to receivers.

The introduction of the 3-4 defense for the Washington Redskins has not been seamless this season and the hostilities between Albert Haynesworth and Shanahan has led to further dissension on the team. The secondary has quality players but they are allowing over 260 yards per game through the air.

The Washington Redskins are also allowing over 130 yards per game on the ground. This will lead to more problems for them with the New York Giants potent one-two running attack. The Giants ran the ball down the Washington Redskins throat in their first meeting and Washington had no answer. The New York Giants offense has the edge over the Washington Redskins defense.

New York Giants Defense vs Washington Redskins Offense

Rex Grossman is not bad as the Washington Redskins quarterback but is he the better fit for this team? Mike Shanahan and Kyle Shanahan look like they have made up their mind and it looks like Donovan McNabb will be heading out of Washington next season.

Ryan Torain may be a key in this game. If he can soften up this tough New York Giants defense, the Washington Redskins may have an edge. Look for the Washington Redskins to work the small passing game and the running game to keep the New York Giants defense on the field in this game.

The New York Giants defense is one of the most feared defenses in the NFL. They have knocked out five NFL quarterbacks this season and that number may grow in this game. Osi Umenyiora and Justin Tuck have been taking advantage of inferior offensive lineman all season and if they do not get to the quarterback, they still force mistakes. The New York Giants defense has the edge over the Washington Redskins offense.
