The 2008-2009 New York Jets Cheerleader Tryouts will take place on May 17th 2008 at the New York Jets Complex (at Hofstra University) located at 1000 Fulton Avenue Hempstead New York. The group is directed by Denise Garvey. The deadline for applications is May 9th. As long as your application is postmarked by this day you will make the deadline. Their cheerleaders are known as the New York Jets Flight Crew. Check in time for the audition starts at 8:00am promptly. Everyone must check in or you can not participate. The semi-final round will take place on May 18th and the final auditions will take place on May 24th and 25th after an interview process with the finalists on May 19th. You can download your application directly from their website and send along with it an application fee of $25. Keep in mind that they do not allow any walk-ups on the day of the auditions. They are looking to fill a total of 22 spots according to their website. In order to audition you will also need to be 18 years old at the time of the audition. You also need to bring a photo ID to the audition.

Your attire for the New York Jets Cheerleader tryouts should include a sports bra and shorts, skin color tights, dance shoes, and your hair and make up done. On the day of the auditions you will greet the judges and then do a freestyle dance with music they provide. At the end of the auditions they will announce who has been chosen for the next round. So what does it take to make it pass the preliminary round of the New York Jets Cheerleader tryouts?

First of all you will need to be completely dedicated to the Jet's Flight Crew. They do various activates within the community and need to be available for practices and games. You need to make sure that your schedule is flexible enough to handle this type of schedule. You will also need to have plenty of energy and enthusiasm to be a part of the time. They recommend that you have experience in cheerleading and dance. They look for those who are multi-talented and have the ability to follow choreographed dance routines. Remember that you will also be a role model so your behavior must fit that role. They recently held a prep class on April 13th for those who are looking to try out. If you missed out on the prep class for this year don't worry you can still prepare by taking refresher courses in jazz, ballet, and hip hop. Everyone that is chose to after the New York Jets Cheerleader auditions will need to stay in top shape through out the year. They really do work hard and put a lot into their routines. Take the time to visit the website and familiarize yourself with the audition process. If for some reason you don't make it this year they do expect to have another open audition next year so you can start preparing now. Take what you learned at this years New York Jets Cheerleader tryouts and use that for next year. Remember with the right amount of practice and preparation you should have no problem making the flight crew.
