Preparing This Texas Toast
New York Texas Toast is found in 8-slice cartons in your grocer's frozen section, so there'll be a bit of baking involved before you get to enjoy this tasty bread. New York brand offers four sets of directions for warming up your Texas toast, including instructions for the grill!
Conventional Oven
After preheating you oven to 425 degrees, place the Texas toast on a cookie sheet for 5 to 7 minutes and then pop these onto your middle rack. If you want both sides of your Texas toast brown, be sure to turn the bread over after the first 3 minutes of baking.
Toaster Oven
Upon your oven preheating to 425 degrees, place the bread on a baking sheet and let the Texas toast bake for 4 to 5 minutes, turning over each slice after the first 3 minutes.
Stove Top
Simply place your bread in a covered, non-stick pan over medium heat, allowing each side to warm for 1-1/2 to 3 minutes each.
Grilling
With your grill heated with medium charcoals, grill your Texas toast for about 1-1/2 to 3 minutes, turning over the bread every 15 to 30 seconds.
Flavor
New York Lite Texas Toast offers a robust garlic and butter flavor without all the fat found in usual Texas toast. In fact, this derivation of New York Texas Toast tastes better - and seems to have less greasy spread - than the regular New York Garlic Texas Toast. This is nice because the garlic and butter-flavor spread tends to leave its mark on anything it happens to get on.
While the flavor of New York Texas Toast is always great, it's nice not to have grease marks everywhere your hands touch. Mind you, the spread on New York Lite Texas Toast does have a way of getting around, too, but with less of it than usual, there's a little less oily residue.
Nutrition
As mentioned earlier, New York Lite Texas Toast has no cholesterol and no trans fat. It also boasts having 50% less the fat of regular Texas Toast. But let's look at some other nutrition numbers so you get a better picture of the health aspects of New York Lite Texas Toast. These numbers are based on a one-slice serving.
