New York Mets 2010 Projected Lineup

Jacqueline Giovanniello
For the 2010 season the lineup is still in the air. With the amount of injuries in 2009, we will have to wait and see what happens.

Most likely the New York Mets Lineup will look something like this:

Catcher
The Mets would most likely start Omir Santos. They would have Josh Thole be the back up for him. They could also sign a free agent, and have Santos be the back up. Thole would have to be in the Minor Leagues.

First Base
At First Base, it could possibly be Daniel Murphy. They would also be able to evaluate Carlos Delgado. Delgado will be playing in the winter. Another option is that they could sign Adam Laroche.

Second Base
Playing Second Base would be Luis Castillo. The Mets have him signed through 2011, with $12 million left on his contract.

Short Stop
The Mets will start Jose Reyes at Short Stop. They will not know what to anticipate from Jose Reyes. Last year he only played 36 games because of his injury.

Third Base
David Wright is not going any where. David Wright will be playing Third Base for the New York Mets for the next four years.

Left Field
We don't know? They dropped Gary Sheffield. So, they would have to sign a free agent like Matt Holiday, Jason Bay, Bobby Abreu, Carl Crawford, or Manny Ramirez if he opts out of his contract.

Center Field
Once again it will be Carlos Beltran starting in Center Field. He will probably be there for the next two years.

Right Field
Jeff Francoer will be starting in Right Field for his first full year as a New York Met. He is not eligible to be a free agent until 2011.

Starting Rotation
The projected rotation will be Johan Santana, Mike Pelfrey, John Maine, Oliver Perez, and Jon Niese or Bobby Parnell. That's not for sure. The final starter could even be Fernando Nieve.

Bullpen
The big question in the Bullpen is who the set up man will be. The set up man would probably be Pedro Feliciano. But, if Bobby Parnell Isn't going to be the final starter, he could be the set up man.

Hopefully this season with The New York Mets won't be facing as many injuries that they did last year. If they can stay healthy may be they will have a great season. We can still believe!
