Tourist Attractions
One of the great things about New York is there's so much to do. Any travel schedule will be jam-packed, and chances are you won't be able to see everything in the city in one trip (not to mention the other boroughs), so there are certain landmarks that make the city iconic that you will want to be sure to see firsthand. The Empire State Building, a Broadway show, Rockefeller Center (where you can ice skate and take an elevator to the Top of the Rock), Radio City Music Hall, Central Park, Bryant Park, Columbus Circle, Times Square, the South Street Seaport, and ferry rides to see Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty are among the many limitless must-dos when visiting New York.
Museums
New York is a center for culture - and nothing proves that more than the many museums that line the streets. From the Guggenheim to the Whitney, there's something for everyone. Three of the best museums located in the metropolis that are perfect for the single woman are The Museum of Modern Art (MOMA), The Museum of Natural History and Madame Tussuad's Wax Museum. The Museum of Modern Art gives the visitor a chance to look at the great works of art through history - with so many classic pieces, and modern ones, the museum allows you to explore, and spend time with some of the greatest artists in history. The American Museum of Natural History allows visitors to spend hours touring the large space, and gives the impression of taking a trip back in time, and witnessing so many historical events, while learning as well. And it doesn't matter what day of the week or what time it is - you can also meet a celebrity, world leader, president or other icons at Madame Tussaud's wax museum - which always ends up being a lot more fun than it should be!
For more information about these museums visit their websites: www.moma.org, www.amnh.org, www.madametussauds.com
Shopping
New York is truly the epicenter of shopping: walk down the streets and you'll see stores of every size and variety along the way. Whether it's the high-class shopping you can find along 5th Avenue, or browsing for hours in the world's largest department store, Macy's on 34th street, you can find anything you could possibly want in the city. There are plenty of well known stores, like Coach, Toys 'R' Us, the NBA Store and M&M World, along with small shops that sell whatever you could possibly dream of - from food to New York souvenirs.
Restaurants
New York is home to some of the best restaurants in the world. With every type of cuisine available, picking a place to eat can be virtually impossible, but with a little research, or a little luck with a good hunch, you can find food that is sure to satisfy your taste buds. Some of the best include Planet Hollywood, Elmo Lounge and Alice's Tea Cup. Planet Hollywood (www.planethollywood.com) puts you among some of Hollywood's best memorabilia, and delivers delicious dishes, that guests of all ages can enjoy. Elmo Lounge (www.elmorestaurant.com) is a hip restaurant that has a surprising menu, that includes meatloaf, macaroni and cheese and other comfort food choices, with a modern twist. Alice's Tea Cup (www.alicesteacup.com) is a whimsical restaurant that features tea, sandwiches and other baked goods (like scones and muffins) and salads. It's the perfect place for any girl - and offers plenty of tasty dishes!
Nightlife
It's not called the city that doesn't sleep for nothing! The nightlife in New York is booming, with clubs and bars open into the early morning on any block. Some of the most famous night clubs reside in the city, like Avalon, Webster Hall, Marquee, Culture Club and Limelight. If you're a single girl who likes to go out and have a good time, there's no better place to be than New York City.
