New York Venues for Your Fundraising Event - Find Investors in the Big Apple

Robin Cena
It's no secret that New York City is the international hub for the east coast. It's where people come every day to spend, borrow, trade and invest their money. Businesses are born here, mature and find their own way in the world...or wither and die. For this reason, fundraising is a favorite activity for many business owners in the city. There are many venues in which to woo your potential investors, but if you make the wrong decision you could find yourself closing shop faster than you ever expected. Very often the decision to invest in your company or product will come down to the quality of the event you put on, as the event is considered an extension of your abilities. If you don't plan ahead of time, your perfect event could turn into the perfect disaster.

Your choice of venue can help determine the outcome of your event. A poorly chosen venue will end the event before it can start. You need to find a venue that works well enough to suit your needs while still being large enough to adequately hold the number of people you expect will attend. Once you've settled on a location, start sending out press releases to stir up interest in the event. The more interest there is, the bigger the attendee list will become, and you never know who may have enough interest in your business to become financially involved. If you list a well-known or popular venue in the press release, your business will automatically gain a professional image.

There are countless venues in New York City to choose from for your fundraising purposes, a few of the most well-known being the Marriott Marquis, China Club, Roosevelt Hotel, and Gotham Hall.

The Marriott Marquis Hotel is located right in Times Square, housing the Marquis Theatre on Broadway. Upscale and polished, their ballrooms lend a professional air to your event. The drawback is the price, which can vary wildly depending on the length of time you rent the room and what time of year it is.

The China Club is an intimate cabaret-like setting on 47th Street for smaller fundraising events. If it's in your budget, there's a stage that can be used by performers to entertain your guests and potential investors.

The Roosevelt Hotel is a little off the beaten path as it were, located on Madison and 45th, but they've become well-known for their elegant, turn-of-the-20th century charm and fusion cuisine catering. For entertaining quieter, more genteel guests, this may be an option for you.

Gotham Hall, centered in Midtown, has several different spaces to accommodate from a few hundred to over a thousand guests. If you aren't certain how many people are coming, you may want to keep this venue in mind in case you need to upgrade the space.
