Vlada Lounge
Want to see drag queens? Than the Vlada Lounge would be the place for you. The place is known as being a trendy "Hell's Kitchen" gay bar. The drink menu is quite varied, with more than a dozen infused vodkas, which include dill, coriander, and horseradish. The menu is not very varied, but the food is still excellent. Try some Brittany scallops or escargots, and grab some to share with your friends. There are shows nightly, and there is never a cover charge. There are DJ's to listen to some nights, and some nights are just the men who are willing to strip their shirts off for fun. For a good time stop in at 331 W 51st Street. Or visit their website at www.vladabar.com. You won't regret your decision.
GYM Sports Bar
The GYM Sports Bar has to be one of the most unusual clubs around. They advertise themselves as the very first "physical home and networking for the Gay, Lesbian and Transexual sports community." GYM supports many local athletics and different activities, such as the AIDS Walk and a Volleyball League. They feel just like a sports bar, the atmosphere is relaxed and cozy, and the patrons lean more towards the Gay side than anything. Play a game of pool or darts, or stop by for two-for-one cocktails and bottled beer during the weekday. Weekends will bring out all the finely-tuned woman and the beefed up men. For more information visit their website at www.gymsportsbar.com, or swing by the place at 167 8th Avenue. The phone number for the GYM Sports Bar is 212-337-2439.
G
Bet you can guess what the G stands for in this club! G is the place for gay men, although there are a few straight women and men found throughout. DJ's spin dance beats all night, every night, and if you get tired of dancing, you can always find a dark place to cuddle up in on the leather banquettes. Cocktails start with the letter g, of course, like the Gloom Chaser, Gazebo, and the Gtini. More popular is the Get Off, a drink consisting of vodka, creme de cacao and a smidgen of cream that will be sure to knock your shirt, er, your socks off. The bar is cozy and inviting and is one you need to visit as it is very popular in New York. For more information check them out at www.glounge.com ,and stop in at 225 W 19th street if you're in the city. You'll be pleasantly surprised!
