New York's Best Restaurants for Luxury Food: $120- to $25,000-Food Items
Extravagant Dining in New York
Start of your day of extravagant eating with a $1000 omelet from Norma's at Le Parker Meridien in New York City. This six-egg omelet is so expensive because it is filled with caviar and lobster.
If you want something lighter for breakfast, enjoy breakfast in New York City's Times Square at the Westin New York Hotel. A $1000 bagel is offered there topped with edible gold leaf, white truffle cream cheese, and Riesling jelly.
For lunch, take the limousine on over to New York City's Nino's Bellisima to indulge in some $1000 pizza. This pizza comes topped with seafood such as lobster, caviar, and salmon.
If pizza is not enough to satisfy your lunch-time appetite, add a quick dessert to your meal. Hop in the limousine again, and this time take it to Manhattan's Serendipity 3 to indulge in a $1000 ice-cream sundae for dessert. This concoction, appropriately named the Golden Opulence Sundae, is made up of Tahitian vanilla bean ice cream, edible gold leaf, truffles, and exotic candy.
December through March is truffle season, and the only time of year you can enjoy this scrumptious lunch choice of a DB Royale Double Truffle Burger. The burger is comprised of beef, truffles, braised short ribs, foie gras, and vegetables. It comes topped with horseradish, tomato, onions, lettuce, black truffles, and a tomato confit. This $120 gourmet junk food is accompanied with French fries, and is available in New York at the DB Bistro Moderne.
If you want to enjoy cocktail hour, you need only give 72 hours notice and pick a diamond to enjoy the Martini on the Rock at the Blue Bar in the Algonquin Hotel in New York City. This $10,000 vodka martini cocktail comes complete with a diamond of your choice. The specific diamond will affect the price of the drink. In this example, a 1.5 carat diamond was used.
If you want to forego the gemstones, you may wish to try a Platinum Passion champagne cocktail at Duvet in New York City. This fruity cocktail is garnished with an orchid and comes with a $1,500 charge per cocktail.
For dinner, a steak may be exactly what you need to satisfy your hunger. Grab some friends and get a private order steak at Craftsteak New York. This 40 lb (cooks down to half size) Wagyu rib eye steak is labeled "103" and comes with a $2,300 price tag.
If you can't round up enough friends to devour 20 lbs of steak, try some $800 sushi at Masa in New York City. This seafood delicacy is called Toro Tartare and is accompanied with caviar. There is a three week advance on reservations, however, so plan accordingly.
Then, return to Manhattan's Serendipity 3 for your evening dessert. This time, order the $25,000 Frozen Haute Chocolate sundae, complete with gold-infused cocoa-laden ice cream, gold spoon, and diamond bracelet lacing the bottom of the dish. This lavish dessert has been declared by Guinness to be the most expensive dessert in the world.
One day of luxury eating in New York could easily cost more than many people earn in an entire year of working. But, it's only money.

Post a Commentit is terrible how people toss money about like it is free some people have to work hard to earn there money and they can control themselfs with the money. why do people feel the need to through money down the drain on food i love bagels but not enogh to go and spend $1.000
Great read, Daniella. Congratulations on being featured
It takes a small mind and even smaller heart (combined with an undeserved big wallet) to waste money like this. As Beth said, it's all going down the toilet anyway. These folks have way more money than brains. Interesting article, Dani.
Also, the article is not picking on New Yorkers. It is pointing out extravagant lifestyle indulgences which are available in New York. Can you blame New York establishments for providing what there is a market for? The biggest segment of the market for these items is comprised of the ultra rich (think foreign wealth) and celebrities.
Please know that the title and the blurb on the feature section were NOT written by me. AC changed them after I submitted them.
As a native New Yorker, I understand Jesse's point. But understand the phrase "only in New York" is not meant to be taken literally as ONLY in New York - you're a writer, Jesse, don't you realize this? However, people in New York spend crazily on everything. Whenever I go home to visit my mom I yell at her constantly for all of the wasteful and unnecessary things she consumes. Having moved away and changed, I think it was because of the constant stores always in my face that prompted the shopping. I miss some things, but overall saved a lot of money moving to PA!
lol @ Beth's comment. hehe :p
Yikes! I think I'll stick with my own bagels LOL
A lot more very-rich and very-poor people walking around since this war got kicked into high gear. The people that spend this kind of money on opulent meals.. are rubbing it in your face.
People should realize that they have to much money when they are spending that much money on something that will last 10 minutes and end up as poop. Talk about throwing money in the toilet!
