New York's Prodigal Son Returns Home, yet Again

Mochachino LA|NY Brings the Latest, Fresh Styles from Across the Nation

While stunning the audience with his new fall line, Mochachino recently reminded his loyal New York clientele that the new black is, well... denim. Silk charmeuse dresses, army inspired motifs reminiscent of his days in the service, and unwashed denim jackets and jeans all brought a touch of LA and Miami to the streets of Manhattan. And when we thought that we've seen it all, he unleashed his secret weapon: the Medusa handbag.

"He knocked me off my feet," remarked a fellow fashionista.

During the after-party, invitees relayed their memorable Mochachino moments; some reminisced of vintage lines long past, remembering the time they crashed on Sabre's couch while he was cutting and sewing the night before a show, racy after-parties, and mostly, the way that he touched their lives. Frequently a guest would yell the word "Mummy", and soon thereafter Sabre's mother came running; over time she virtually adopted dozens upon dozens of children in the Mochachino House. Some guests were even reunited after several years, even though they live relatively close to one another. It took a strong man, with a big heart, to return to his home town and bring several generations of Mochachino back together. This time he did it for a cause that is dear to him, all proceeds from the evening were donated to the S.L.E. Lupus Foundation.

So how did a self taught designer, without any formal training, manage to make such a remarkable impact? It all started with an idea, passion, a needle and thread. He evolved, built a fashion house from scratch, mixed his own runway music, and several lines later decided to venture across the nation. His passion for exploration brought him to the fashion naval of LA, and the hottest spots in Miami, but he will always hold his hometown dearest in his heart. He returned for a night, and blew us all away.

And then, all too quickly, he was gone.
