The Museum is location downtown on Washington street in the heart of Newark, and is easily accessible. Located in the Museum are hundreds of years of history that is as exciting for children as well as adults. They host hundreds of family programs a year such as the annual Fireman's Fair, that you can attend and hear the Newark Firefighters Pipe Band. You can also attend the family Arts and Activity Programs and spend the day creating art with your family, making pottery, or creating jewelry, What kid would enjoy that!, They also have the Animal Explorers program where you can find out, why birds sing?, or dogs howl or even why turtles hide in their shell?.
The Newark Museum also has many new exhibits, Like the dynamic earth, WOW! when I say this exhibit is beautiful it doesn't even describe how amazing it is, when you enter its like walking into another world, displayed in this exhibit are real dinosaur bones and huge they are!, the whole area inside is made to look like a cave, you get the feeling of how it must have looked in prehistoric times, and when you walk in there two huge movies screens that show you a quite detailed but interesting story on the evolution of our plants and animals.
My kids enjoyed it, and they want to go again, this is a nice cool quite place to bond with your family, but you cant leave this museum without walking through the Ballantine House. This house was bought from the Ballantines back in the 1800s, and the Museum decided to keep it as an attraction, to walk through the house gives you an eerie calm, every piece in this house is originally from when the ballantines owned the house, the walls are beautifully preserved with the original wall paper, and so are the rugs, the house smells like history, the furniture is so unique, they don't make furniture like that anymore, the house is huge, and as you walk through you can imagine being a guest in the Ballantines home., there is a library, a study, a sewing room with Mrs. Ballantines original tapestry's, there are many bedrooms with the original furniture and so much more.................
When I went I imagined what it would have been like to be a Ballantine and oh my god I think it would have been amazing to live like that!
By the way a lot of people don't know that the Ballantine house belonged to the same Ballatine that was the creator of Ballantine Ale, yes the famous beer!,It really is a must see.
So I am suggesting to anyone that wants to have a good educational, yet fun and interesting day, try the Newark Museum, its great for the whole family.
