When you are group camping, it is important to be prepared, and to plan the activities you are going to enjoy because it would make the experience more fun and worry-free. Have a plan of where you're going to go, with whom, and when. Activities must be well planned so everybody feels comfortable.
You must also make a checklist of all the equipment, food and tools you might need in your campsite. Having a list will be of great help to make sure you are not forgetting anything important. Try to check the list before you go and make sure to depart only if all the items on the list are present.
Before making the checklist, you may want to choose all your equipment and provisions first. If you're planning to stay for a short time in your campsite, then don't overload your backpacks. You should only carry what you think is essential for a day or two max. Leave the heavy equipment and abundant provisions to the more advanced, who can handle the extra weight and that will be camping for more extended periods of time.
As always, safety must be first. You must plan for the safety of you and your group. Always have a plan in case an emergency occurs or someone gets hurt during camping. Have always a first aid kit, and information about the nearest hospitals or police stations. You never know when that can come in handy.
Cooking at a campsite is very cool, but it can also be frustrating if you choose the wrong kind of food. Don't choose complicated recipes because cooking outdoors is very different from cooking in a kitchen. Use food that is already chopped and/or pre-cooked. You would save more time this way. Also remember to place all perishable goods in sealed containers to prevent rotting before time. Try to get to the camping site early in the day. Having to set up a camp in night time is a lot harder. When you arrive during the day, you can become familiar with the campsite faster, set up your tent in daylight and enjoy the night in front of a fireplace.
