Newborn Babies Bath

Bath Time with Newborn's

Lee Hartsell
Are you a new mother and your not sure about giving your newborn a bath? Gather the items you will need first. They are a towel, washcloth, gentle soap, diaper, vaseline gauze, and clothes to put back on. Use a kitchen or bathroom counter.
Baby bathtubs are great. Fill the bathtub up with luke warm water. The room should be 75-80 degrees. You just want to fill the tub up, so that the baby will be covered. Maybe 2 inches of water. Take his or her clothes off. Put him in the bathtub gently. Keep your hand on him or her, so that he is not startled by the feel of the water. Support his head until he is fully in the water. Take you baby wash cloth and put baby wash on it. Start to wash your baby from the face down. Get under his or her neck and underarms. Do not get the umbilical cord wet. Wash around the cord carefully. Wash the bottom, after washing the legs and feet.If you have a baby boy, do not pull the foreskin back to clean him. If he has been circumsized, change the vaseline gauze on his penis. Wash a little girls bottom from the front to the back. It is normal for a baby girl to have a yellow, cheesy discharge or bloody discharge at first. This should go away. Wash your babies head last, since he or she gets cool fast. Dry your baby off. Dress them. Don't ever leave your baby in the bathtub unattended. Do not answer your telephone, while you are bathing your baby.
