She is having a seminar about quilting in the winter. You can visit her website at www.auntpollysbb.com She has a beautiful home. They also have horse wagon rides into Camp Santononi. There is also a golf course nearby. It has nine holes and you can rent a golf cart for ten bucks. We saw the golf course from my aunt's golf cart.
Aunt Polly's Material Girls fabric shop has beautiful fabric at low prices. She really does a good job with selling quilts and she wants to go into it full time and focus on growing it. People love her taste. She sells local women's quilts for reasonable prices and they're really wonderful workmanship. They even have hand quilting. It is a real treat to see all the wonderful quilts.
When I went up there this summer, we went on a boat ride, saw friends and ate at many wonderful restaurants. We went for a walk in my Aunt's part of the forest. She has about seventy acres. There are even balsam trees she cuts down and turns into sachets.
The Adirondacks is one of the places Theodore Roosevelt visited frequently and he was there when he became president of the United States when McKinley died. He loved hunting up there in the wild and it took days to get back to Washington DC.
Farmers and trappers used to live up there. Now it is hard to find a buck with a good rack because there is so little open fields. Now its all forest and deer are far and few between. We did see some wild turkeys and I think I saw red tailed hawks. They were gliding up in the air and it was hard to identify them.
Long Lake is a town nearby where people land aquatic planes and go for rides in boats. Its about 13 miles long or so and can take about an hour to go the whole way. Sigourney Weaver, the famous actress has a house on that lake and she has a black colored beach made from the native titanium in the water. They have a mine they don't use anymore. Visit the Adirondacks and see all the natural beauty not too far from New York City.
