Newgrounds Chat 2010 Chatting Service for Newgrounds.Com

Newgrounds Chat 2010 is an online chatting service created by Newgrounds.com programmer Mr-Money, with additional art for the program done by Newgrounds.com user Matt Sterner (Mattster). This chatting program was submitted to Newgrounds.com on December 30, 2009.

As stated in the author's comments area of the site, this chatting program allows anyone to use any username to start chatting with people online. The server is said to be able to be kept up and running for a long time, making this a potentially reliable chatting service for Newgrounds.com.

Newgrounds Chat 2010 currently offers six different topic-based chat rooms. These rooms include the following:
-General Discussion
-Video Games
-World Events
-XXX
-Music
-New Year 2010

It is possible that future chat rooms based on other topics will be included in Newgrounds Chat 2010.

It is recommended by the programmer that if the chatting service is slow on Firefox then it would be best to switch to Chrome or another browser.

To start chatting, first pick a chat room you would like to be a part of. Once you have picked your chat room, decide on a username. Almost any username can be used, as long as it isn't being used already. No passwords are necessary to log in to the chat room.

Once you have entered the chat room, you will see the main chat conversation area taking up most of the screen. To the right, you have the list of users currently joined in this conversation and/or chat room.

Above the conversation area, you can pick the chat skin theme that you would like to use. There are currently two different skins available. The first theme is the usual black used all over the Newgrounds.com website. The second theme is red with stripes.

Next to the skin choosing buttons, there are a few buttons for the audio for the chat. All audio files are from Newgrounds.com. You can click Random New Song to change to a random song. You can pause the song by clicking the pause button next to the Random New Song button. Next to the number of the song, there is another button. When you click this button, you are given the option to either download the song or view the song's page.

Overall, Newgrounds Chat 2010 has the potential to allow users of the site to interact. However, there are a few issues that could help the service run more smoothly and be more user-friendly.
