Newport Beach, California Restaurant Guide

Newport Beach, California is a great vacation destination. With perfect weather, miles of picturesque coastline, numerous outdoor activities, world class shopping, and wonderful restaurants, Newport Beach has something to offer everyone. Located in southern California, Newport Beach is fifty miles south of Los Angeles and 85 miles north of San Diego. Here is a guide to some of my favorite restaurants in Newport Beach, California.

For breakfast, I usually enjoy something light and simple. Coffee and a muffin or juice and a bagel are all I need to get my day started. For coffee and a muffin, I head on over to Diedrich Coffee at 3601 Jamboree Road. This Orange County based coffee chain serves fresh and delicious coffee and pastries that you are sure to enjoy. If I'm in the mood for a bagel, I enjoy a visit to Bruegger's Bagel Bakery at 2743 East Pacific Coast Highway. A freshly baked bagel with their delicious cream cheese goes well with freshly squeezed orange juice. My favorite is a toasted onion bagel with bacon scallion cream cheese.

After breakfast, a walk along the water is a nice way to complete your morning in Newport Beach. For lunch, my favorite restaurant is La Fogata Rotisserie Chicken, located at 3025 East Pacific Coast Highway. Whether you prefer their delicious rotisserie chicken or their healthy Mexican fare, La Fogata will hit the spot. My favorite dish is their rotisserie chicken nachos, which are delicious and plentiful. For another lunch option, there is always Ruby's Diner located at One Balboa Pier. Ruby's is a 1950's style diner that serves great hamburgers, fries, and milkshakes.

For dessert, nothing beats a Balboa Bar or a frozen banana from Sugar n Spice on Balboa Island. A Balboa Bar is vanilla ice cream on a stick that is hand-dipped in chocolate and then rolled in sprinkles, peanuts, or other toppings. The frozen banana is served the same way, on a stick with chocolate and toppings. Both are delicious and you can enjoy them while walking along quaint Balboa Island. Sugar n Spice is located at 310 Marine Avenue on Balboa Island.

My favorite restaurant for dinner in Newport Beach is JACKshrimp, located at 2400 West Pacific Coast Highway. This restaurant may be located in Newport Beach, but it serves up excellent New Orleans style cuisine. The gumbo, po'boys, jambalaya, and red beans and rice are all delicious. JACKshrimp also serves great seafood and pasta dishes. I recommend ordering a few of their appetizers and sides, so you can sample several of their tasty menu items.
