Newport, Rhode Island is a Great Place to Visit

Visiting Newport, Rhode Island for three days will be a great experience for you and the people that you are traveling with. For three days you will find yourself surrounded by luxurious mansions and happy people. Read on to find out just what you should do to make your visit to the area a memorable one.

When you first arrive in the Newport, Rhode Island area you should get your tickets to visit the mansions. Use the special packages and that way you can see more of them for less money.

Next, you will want to check into your hotel. There are plenty of them in the city of Newport. Get your things settled and then head on out to visit the first mansion on your itinerary. Make sure that you wear comfortable shoes because there is a lot of walking involved when you visit the mansions and tour the grounds. It is worth it and it is advisable to have a camera and a pair of binoculars. You will not be able to take pictures inside the mansions, but you can take them as you tour the grounds. These make wonderful items for a memory book of your visit.

You will want to take the 10 mile ride along the ocean. Stop and walk along the beach for a while. If you are a painter or artist, drawing in Newport, Rhode Island is fantastic. In the evening you will want to dine at one of the many different great restaurants and then finish off the evening at one of the clubs in the area.

On day two, you should visit two more of the mansions. After that you should spend some time just driving around the area. Spend a few hours on the beach and have a picnic dinner. You don't have to do anything special, just some hamburgers, hot dogs and baked beans. For the evening, visit another one of the clubs in Newport.

When you arrive at day three awake early and take advantage of the continental breakfast if your hotel has one. You should then pack up all your gear and head out to see another couple of the mansions. Try and take a boat tour of the area, too. Your trip to Newport last as long as possible so enjoy the mansions, the beaches and talk to the people of the area. You will have a great time and see some fantastic architecture while you are there.

Visiting Newport, Rhode Island is a treat. Make sure that you take advantage of all the attractions that you can while you are there. There are plenty of great things to do and see and your three days in Newport, Rhode Island will be filled with fun and excitement.

  • Lower Thames St. lots of stores & restaurants12/19/2010

    The beautiful old post office is located aproximately where Lower Thames Street starts. You will automatically see across the street The Red Parrot restaurant. The Red Parrot is a favorite restaurant for many people because it has a great food selection.

    If you pass the Red Parrot on Lower Thames Street there are many wonderful clothing stores and jewlery stores such as Down Under Jewelry. Some unique stores are Newport Fudgery, National Restoration Museum Store and The Magic Studio. The Magic Studio is a great place for all ages to get magic, juggling and kites for the beaches nearby.

    Another fun thing you will find on Lower Thames Street is the new Segway store. Segway does does tours of Newport. You will see the tour guides and the tourists on their Segways touring around.

    If you continue further down a couple of great restaurants with great prices is Firehouse Pizza and Ocean Breeze.

  • Lots to do on Thames Street12/19/2010

    Thame Street is a really fun street to see if you go to Newport, RI. Thames Street is a long stretch. So, you need to give yourself time to walk up and down the street. It is possible to take a bus but you will see more by walking. Along the way you will find great restaurants where you can get a hot bowl of clam chowder, see historic buildings and do shopping.

    On the right hand (west) side of Thames street is the waterfront side with amazing ships, yachts and boats. If you have time, it is worth scheduling a boat tour.

    There are many historic buildings that are either privately owned or are available for a tour. Several historic buildings to visit are the Museum of Newport History and Samuel Whitehorn Museum.

    Basically, there are two parts of Thames Street which is Upper Thames and Lower Thames. The Upper Thames Street area includes Washington Square, antique stores, souvenir shops and unique stores such as Thames Glass.
