Ben Bernanke confident recession is over, unemployment rate still rises

The economic recession is most likely over says Ben Bernanke. Tuesday, the chairman of the Federal Reserve stated that while economic growth is probably taking place, unemployment rates will continue to rise. Congress is expected to implement a new system of financial rules to guard against another future economic catastrophe.

Dan Brown returns with mysterious "The Lost Symbol"

Dan Brown's latest book, "The Lost Symbol" is catching the attention of Freemasons and those intrigued by the Masonic Order. "The Lost Symbol" arrives six years after Brown's hit "The Da Vinci Code". The group, enshrined in mystery is at the center of Brown's latest novel is at your local book store or online title carrier today, September 15.

Over 2,500 voting sites to be recounted for Afghanistan's August election

The recount of the Afghanistan presidential election votes will affect ten percent (approximately 2, 500) of voting locations. Afghanistan's latest presidential election took place August 20 and the results showed Hamid Karzai holding the majority of votes.

Belgian study finds chlorinated pools increase risks of asthma and allergies in kids

A recent study from Belgian researchers shows that chlorinated pools may place children at risk for developing allergies and asthma. The study found that the risk of developing respiratory conditions like asthma and allergies are up to six times higher when teens spend over 100 hours in chlorinated pools.

Hollywood looses superstar Patrick Swayze

Monday, Hollywood lost superstar Patrick Swayze to pancreatic cancer. He was 57 years old. Swayze told fans about his diagnosis March 2008, but continued to work on several projects including the A&E series "The Beast".

Harry Potter Theme park coming to Orlando in spring 2010

Universal Orlando Resort will open a new attraction centered on J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series. The theme park, "Wizarding World of Harry Potter", will feature "Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey" a ride named by Rowling. The ride will take guests will be taken on a journey through various scenes from the series. "Wizarding World of Harry Potter" will open in spring 2010.

Robber killed by student armed with samurai sword

Tuesday, a robber was killed when his victim, a Johns Hopkins student, discovered him in their garage. The student, armed with a samurai sword, ordered the robber to leave the garage. When the robber attacked, the student defended himself with the sword.
