This photo was taken in Ludwigshafen, Germany, where, last week, a fire consumed the apartment building shown here, killing four adults and five children. Taking an impossible chance, one parent hurled an infant more than 40 feet to safety, pictured here in the center of the image.
Miraculously, the baby was caught by a police officer. The child was treated, and is doing well. The parents also survived.
The fire itself is believed to have been due to arson.
As they say, desperate times call for desperate measures.
