Death of News in America

News reporting is a thing of the past. No longer can you pickup a newspaper or turn on television and find out what is going on in the world today. It takes some serious, dedicated searching of the WWW to try and tease out facts about our current events.

Newspapers have long since been gobbled up by the big conglomerates, and a specific point of view has been dictated to be taken in any attempt at event reporting. Even the once independent small town newspapers are simply a reprint facility for the establishment stories. Local stories are on soft serve events; local investigative stories are a thing of the past. For instance, a local police log shows multiple drug possession arrests each day, but rarely is a dealer taken into custody. Small town gang shootings are now common, but no gang articles are published. These areas would have been ripe for independent small town reporting before the big media buyouts.

Before the advent of satellite television, rural TV was limited to local antenna stations. National news was presented on NBC, CBS, ABC, and some on NPR. As the years passed these stations became more and more biased and less and less news was provided.

Rural viewers turned to satellite reception and were now presented with the news channels CNN, FOX, and MSNBC. They have all been failures in news reporting.

CNN has the most news, sometimes as much as five minutes in an hour segment. More likely they report adnauseam on Hollywood, Democrat politics, or the latest hyped event. A recent stopwatch viewing of the first several minutes of CNN news showed 4 minutes on the Democrat presidential contest, 17 seconds on the Republican presidential contest, and 45 seconds of "ain't Hillary cute". MSNBC is unabashed in its lack of news while pushing the "vote Democrat" slant for hours on end. FOX news used to be a news outlet, but has turned to sensation only titillation stories. Akin to A&E, they take any useless story, such as a drunken Hollywood bimbo, or broken down has been football player, and beat it as a dead horse for days on end to the exclusion of all else. If there are no Hollywood horses to beat, they join the ranks of CNN and MSNBC in reporting the non-news political events of the day.

Only by careful, diligent searching of the WWW, can one glean a shadow of knowledge to what is happening in the world. Think about it, why don't you see any reports on Iraq or Afghanistan? How about trouble in South America or Africa? Political leaders at all levels of government are rife for corruption, or incompetence reporting. If some Richey Rich were to develop a real nonbiased news organization the world would be their oyster.
