Sacramento, CA - Online companies such as Amazon.com, Monster.com and Associated Content (AC) appear to assume that paying professional writers for their work is an absolute joke. The facts are in:
1. Researchers suggest not working as a sub-contractor for any of the aforementioned companies, pay is non-existent.
2. These scams seek someone to report news stories for free; try asking your Doctor to do free house calls, it's ridiculous!
3. Un-educated individual's make substantially higher wages working for McDonald's making Cheeseburgers, than writers!
4. Writers work is not published professionally in Popular Mechanics Magazine, Maxim etc. I may be wrong , but not often!
So, this, for all those you who spend hundreds of hours writing for these folks, get an hourly pay, anything else is a degradation of you, your abilities and future writers. This negative experience could make you feel as if you were a rape victim!

Post a CommentI must concede, AC has paid me and I was very happy about this. I was pretty quick about throwing stones. I was expecting a fast turnaround on payment for content. It takes a few days or even up to a week. I must reiterate, I concede and have gained serious respect for AC. I think I am going to be around here for awile. For all of you who helped enlighten me, Thanks! Randy
Let me get this straight. I choose volunteer information in return for no payment and then I should I turn around and pay a bloodsucking leech of a lawyer to help get me money I never asked for in the first place. To anyone taking this misinformed person seriously--this person who just wrote something for nothing--you should know that I am currently on the verge of making my 3400th dollar here at Associated Content. $3400 that I won't have to share with a lawyer.
Get a serious grip, dude. I have to agree with Michael. You may not pay the mortgage via AC or other gigs, but it beats giving it away for free in a forum somewhere. I'd rather get $4 for what is basically a forum post than nothing.
...and can't get anyone to pay you for your work. I've personally made some pretty good money freelancing. And most of my freelancing editing/writing gigs come from my exposure on sites like Amazon and Associated Content.
If you don't like the fact that you're not getting paid to submit reviews on Amazon.com, why do you do it? Pardon the assumption, but maybe it's because you're not a very good writer.
