I have always been a fan of skateboarding. Let's bring you up to date on what is happening, in the exciting sport of skateboarding.

National Skateboard Day

June 21 is not only the first day of summer. It is Go Skateboarding Day. This day was established by (IASC) International Association of Skateboard Companies. This was done to bring awareness about issues facing skateboarders around the world.

The Chosen Bus Tour

This skateboard tour has five stops throughout the month of June. Nike Pro skater Paul Rodriguez takes his skills to the following communities. You can catch the tour June 17 & 18 Windells Camp at Mt. Hood, OR, June 21 & 22 Woodward West, CA, June 24 at O'Neill's in Santa Cruz, CA, June 25 the Boardroom in Santa Cruz, CA and the last leg of the tour ends in Santa Barbara, CA on June 28. Skateboarders that have a video of themselves can turn them in at those locations. This is an excellent opportunity for them to get recognized.

Nyjah Huston on Top in KC

Nyjah won the $150,000 Street League in Kansas City, Missouri. He beat our Chris Cole and Chaz Ortiz for the prize money.

Flip Board A Day Giveaway

Flip is giving a board away each day. All you have to do is be the first person to correctly answer the question on their Facebook page.(3pm PT/6pm ET)

Four Wheels and a Board in Kabul

The LA Film Fest that runs from June 16Th to the 26Th will feature a film made in Kabul, Afghanistan. It is an incredible film about how skateboarding has brought both rich and poor children together. It is the one sport that allows girls to participate in, in this war torn country. The film has become a powerful social tool, as it brings together genders and different classes of individuals.

The Tailgrab 900

Alex Perelson became the youngest person to have landed a 900 degree rotation on a skateboard. He joins the likes of Tony Hawk and Sandro Dias to perform this execution. The skill was first done by Hawk in 1999. The skill is a a two and a half rotation by grabbing the tail of the board at a ten foot height over a fifteen foot rap. Alex is the first to do it by grabbing the tail. It appears that the future holds a great deal for this young skateboarder.

Amputee Rudy Tolson

Skateboarding by itself is a challenge. How about skateboarding without legs? That is what Rudy Tolson does. The 22 year old skates without legs or even prosthetics. Besides winning a medal in skateboarding in Shanghai, he is now training for swimming on the Olympic team at the London Olympics, in 2012.
