The arguably most famous golfer in the world, Tiger Woods, was injured in a car accident. The Tiger Woods car accident occurred near Orlando, Florida's Isleworth community. Will Woods' car crash spell the end of his professional golf career?

Tiger Woods Accident: Golfer Initially Reported in Serious Condition

Relying on reports from the Florida Highway Patrol, the Orlando Sentinel suggests that Tiger Woods suffered serious injuries. Tiger Woods' crash happened after two in the morning when he left his home, collided with a fire hydrant and then hit a tree. The full extent of the injuries is not reported. Hospital employees at the Health Central Hospital in Ocoee neither confirm nor deny that Tiger Woods is a patient, receiving treatment for injuries related to the car crash or even what the extent of the injuries is.

It is noteworthy that the Florida Highway Patrol revealed that charges are pending in the car accident but there was no alcohol involved. There is no update about the Tiger Woods car crash on the news section of the Tiger Woods website or the Tiger Woods Facebook page, although a "get well" thread has been started. It is from this thread that a potential other bit of news may be gleaned, namely that Tiger Woods is in serious condition and suffered facial lacerations.

Tiger Woods Car Accident: Rumors Surrounding Tiger Woods' Crash

Already there are rumors running wild, such as the one reported by the Online Wire about the possibility that golf legend Tiger Woods may have accidentally hit the gas pedal after colliding with the fire hydrant. Another rumor suggests that the sports star had his arm hanging out the window at the time of the accident.

Will 2009 Be Marked by Golf Legend Car Accidents?

Just in June of this year, five time PGA Tour champion Ken Green was involved in a car accident. In this case the car was a recreational vehicle that veered off the road and resulted in fatalities. It led to the amputation of golf star Ken Green's lower right leg. According to the PGA, Ken Green is hopeful that the amputation will not spell a final retirement from professional golf.

Just a month before, the sport of golf was rocked by news out of London, reporting on the death of Welsh amateur golfer Ben Enoch. The 19 year young athlete had made quite a name for himself in the world of golf and was considered by insiders and spectators alike to be the sport's new rising star. The Golf.com news of his car accident and subsequent passing was met with shock.

    Great reporting. After reading your article, I have to say that he is lucky he wasn't killed! Running into a fire hydrant and hitting a tree could so easily be fatal.
