Just for a change (yeah right!) I thought that this week on News From A Weird World we would take a look at some of the finest folks that Florida has to offer, and to try and set things right, since I am always picking on them.

Unfortunately the news stories of the past week didn't allow us to do this, and in fact they just prove conclusively that when it comes to being weird, Florida has the other states licked.

Florida Mother Of The Year

Take for example Corinthian Williams, a 24 year old mother of four children from Riviera Beach, who had police come knocking at her door after neighbors tipped them off.

It seems that the mother has been leaving the children, aged 1, 5, 6 and 9 on their own in the house at night, while she works as a stripper in a local club.

When the police told her why they were there, she tried to hand them the 1 year old, who had a full diaper, saying "Take her, I don't wanna".

The 9 year old also told the police that the four of them were also left alone while their mother had men over, and were made to leave them alone while they were in the bedroom.

Reminds me that one of these days I must write the controversial article that my head has been nagging me to publish, on why some people should not be allowed to breed.

When Whiskey And Ice Cream Don't Mix

You really want to know when whiskey and ice cream don't mix?

It's when the driver of an ice cream truck is found to be not only drunk but three times over the limit, and on the seat next to him are two open bottles of whiskey.

This driver was pulled over by police in New Port Richie in Florida last week, after a 911 call to say that he almost hit a child.

When he was pulled over by deputies, he was seen to stagger out of the truck, and when they asked him for his address, he gave them his date of birth.

The man was charged with DUI and released the following day.

Florida Bar Brawl Ends Up With Woman In Jail

It had just gone 1am and at the South Beach Club in Hudson, Florida, a 25 year old woman and her boyfriend were rather the worse for wear and causing trouble.

When the bartender asked them to leave, the woman refused to go, and began hurling glasses, bottles and even pitchers of beer at the bartender, a 27 year old woman.

She then went behind the bar, punched and kicked the bartender, pulled a chunk of her hair out, and ripped her dress off.

The woman and her boyfriend then ran outside, and the bartender locked the door behind them, however the woman had forgotten her car keys, and when the bartender refused to open the door, she took a brick and threw it at a window, causing it to break and cutting the bartender's face and hands.

The woman and her boyfriend are now under arrest in the Pasco County jail, with bail set at $12,000.

What The Mold Inspector Saw

When the inspector called at an apartment in Naples, Florida last week to check for mold, he found that things were growing there that he hadn't expected to find.

The tenant, Stephen Vanalphe, who is 43 and calls himself a "gardener", likes to take photographs of the plants that he grows, and he keeps them in photo albums, like most people would of their family and friends.

Well the inspector found marijuana plants growing in the apartment, in fact two closets full of them, and the photo albums were proof.

The tenant told the media that "I do smoke marijuana, and I will not stop. Short of being incarcerated, I will not stop".

Not only had he been growing marijuana plants inside the apartment for six years, he had re-routed the air ducts inside the apartment, so that the smell of the plants would not escape through the laundry vent.

39 Wives 94 Children And He Wants More

You are wondering which part of Florida I am picking on this time right?

Well actually I think it's time to stop picking on Florida, for this week at least, and this story comes from Guwahati in India.

In Mizoram state in the remote northeast of India, lives Ziona Chana, who is 66 and the head of a Christian religious sect called the "Chana" which believes in polygamy.

The sect was formed in 1942 and has a membership of about 400 families, including that of Ziona Chana, which numbers 167, and they all live in the same house.

As of the last count, he has 39 wives, 94 children, and 33 grandchildren, and they all live in a four story building which has 100 rooms.

The family supports themselves by working in the fields and keeping livestock.

The wives share a dormitory that is close to the man's private bedroom, and he apparently likes to have seven or eight of them by his side at all times.

Wow - forget about inventing stereo. Imagine 8 wives all trying to tell you the same thing at the same time.

As for having so many wives and children. Apparently Ziona Chana would like to have more.

Just imagine if they were eligible to move to the USA. They could not only run a medium sized hotel, they could occupy all the rooms as well.

Mom Videos Under Age Kids Smoking

And just to prove that it isn't only in Florida that you find a lesser kind of person, this is a report freshly in from Huntington in West Virginia.

A 44 year old mother is set to appear in court on Friday according to the media, for giving cigarettes to her 6 year old son, and the 8 year old son of a neighbor, and taking a video of them smoking using her cell phone.

She is also accused of permitting the boys to light fireworks at home using cigarettes, an incident which resulted in her son burning his finger.

The woman has been charged with child neglect and contributing to juvenile delinquency.
