Man In His 60's Steals Young Neighbors Underwear

We begin our News From A Weird World this week with a story from one of our notorious regular destinations, Florida.

The Sun Sentinel has a report of a 62 year old man breaking into the home of a neighbor and stealing underwear from her panty drawer.

The girl who is 23 and her younger sister who is 21 both reported multiple pairs of underwear missing, and she also found on one occasion a man who she believed to be the suspect in her apartment and going through the contents of her drawers.

The man was breathing heavily, but ran off without showing his face when surprised.

Several pairs of women's underwear that match the description of some of those that are missing have been found at his home, and the neighbor has given DNA samples to the police so that they can determine if it matches that on the panties.

What surprised me though is that the woman reported 23 pairs of panties missing, and her sister was missing 16 thongs. Just how many pairs of underwear do these two women have between them, and how did the thief imagine he could get away with stealing so many of them?

Beware Of Pineapple Shaped Bookends

As you know it all happens in Florida, and the case of the pineapple bookends is one that makes you wonder what they were thinking.

Last week a man was given a pineapple hand grenade dating from World War II by a neighbor, who had been using several of these as bookends, and they had belonged to her late husband.

The man pulled the pin, realized it was a live grenade, then sensibly re-inserted it and placed it outside before calling the bomb squad.

The bomb squad arrived and safely detonated both grenades, which left a two foot deep crater in the ground.

So next time you come across some unusual items that are being used as bookends, beware, they could serve a more lethal purpose.

This Is One Woman Not To Be Messed With

There are some women who are not to be messed with, and this is one of them, Victoria Eltonya Bynes, aged 42, who as you probably guessed, lives in Florida.

The sheriff's report states that the woman went to the home of her boyfriend's mother, looking for him, but he was not there. She reportedly told the mother "Your son has some explaining to do" and then left.

She found her boyfriend a short time later at another house, and soon afterwards the occupant of the house called the police to say that the couple were fighting.

When the police arrived, they found her boyfriend kneeling in the yard, covered with a blanket, and with second and third degree burns on his genital area.

The woman initially denied any responsibility, but eventually admitted that they were fighting with a bottle of lighter fluid, which sprayed into his lap. At the time this happened she was flicking her lighter, and of course we know what happened after that.

She was taken away by the deputies and charged with aggravated battery.

If this incident doesn't convince you to stay away from her, the picture on the original article surely will.

Headline Of The Week

Sometimes the story itself doesn't quite live up to the headline, but the headline just makes you have to stop and click on it. I think we have all seen these from time to time.

This headline in the Sun Sentinel certainly made me look...

Man Broke Into Club House, Stripped Nude And Stole Sausage

Well how can you not take a look at that!

It seems a man broke into a club house at an adult mobile home park, may have taken a shower, explaining why he was nude when caught on video, and then stole $15 worth of sausages from the refrigerator, as well as some paper napkins and a first aid kit.

The relevance of the items that he stole, especially the last two? I have no idea...

Crappy Commute Of The Week

I think we will just stay with Florida this week, as there seems to be a lot of really offbeat things happening there.

The Tuesday morning commute in South Florida was a challenge to many motorists, but nowhere near as much of a challenge as that faced by motorists traveling on U.S.27 in western Broward and Palm Beach counties.

An 18-wheeler truck somehow managed to drop it's cargo of "stabilized sludge" all over the road and onto an SUV when the driver swerved to avoid slower traffic.

The highway was closed for most of the morning while the mess was cleared up, and if you weren't aware - "stabilized sludge" is a politically correct way of saying "human waste".

If you want to see the state of the SUV, I highly recommend the video in the link below. I bet the driver kicked up a real stink about it!

Maybe Not The Best Way To Avoid Being Evicted

Yet another typically dumb looking criminal, if you see his photo in the article link below, and this one had been ordered to pay $950 by Friday or be evicted.

The man, of Port Richey in Florida (where else), is a self employed scrap metal dealer, so what better way to acquire $950 than to tear down the front porch of the place where you are living and to sell the scrap metal.

The landlord spotted the man tearing the roof off the porch and alerted the police, who asked if he was going to sell the scrap metal for money, which he said that he was going to.

He was arrested and charged with grand theft. I am guessing somehow that this will not help his case in avoiding eviction.
