Next Action Frog is a Flash-based action platformer created by Newgrounds.com user keybol. The song track used for the intro of this creation is titled 8-Bit Nozomi and was created by Newgrounds.com user scarmullet. Additional audio was credited to Kick Shock - Incompetech. Next Action Frog was submitted to Newgrounds.com on March 5, 2010 and achieved front page status during the same week.

Game Background

Parker Frog works as a paper boy, jumping around and delivering papers around the neighborhood. One day, he saw on the television a possible future job for himself that would pay better. No longer wanting to be a paper boy, Parker Frog decided to become the next video game super hero. In order to get in, Parker Frog must undergo a series of try-out events that include a great deal of platform hopping. Help Parker Frog achieve his goal.

Gameplay

The objective of each stage in Next Action Frog is to reach the flag at the end of the stage.

Along the way, you will see flies that will guide you towards the flag. There are also a few other helpful items scattered throughout each level that can help you out. For instance, there are friendly mushrooms that can be found in some stages that you can jump on to achieve greater height. You can also jump on enemies, making them act as makeshift platforms.

Avoid falling into deadly pits to avoid dying. Also avoid enemies to avoid dying. Enemies will be scattered throughout the stages.

At the top right hand corner of the screen, you can view the stage number that you are currently on, as well as the number of deaths you have accrued. You can toggle the quality of the game by pressing Q. You can also reset the level by pressing R. Resetting a level costs one life. Pause the game by pressing P.

Help Parker Frog get through all of the stages to help him become the next video game superhero.

Game Review

Next Action Frog is a fun little action platformer that is sure to keep players of all levels interested. The increasing degree of difficulty helps keep the game interesting. The story line is also a nice creative addition. The graphics make the game reminiscent of old school action platformers, giving this submission extra points of inducing nostalgia.

Next Action Frog scores an 8/10 for its good level of entertainment and creative story line.
