When traveling along the Oregon coast it's always a great adventure to visit the Tillamook cheese factory. Self-guided tours allow guest to view, at their own pace, the making of Tillamook Cheese from beginning till end.
After taking a self-guided tour guests can taste various cheese from curd to finalization before entering the combination, gift shop, café, ice cream parlor, and cheese store.
Tillamook Cheese Factor is home of some of Oregon's best tasting cheeses and Ice Cream products in the entire state. When visiting the Tillamook Cheese Factory be sure to bring home the cheese. Squeeky Cheese, this is fresh cheddar cheese curd, although Tillamook Cheese Factor doesn't advertise why where this Squeek Cheese Curd gets its name Hubby and I assume it is due to the fact that when chewing the fresh cheddar curd pieces it makes a squeaky noise on your teeth. No matter where Squeeky Cheese gets its name it is a flavorful and fun cheese product.
Also visit the café and order a fresh sandwich and the fixings or maybe a nice cup of coffee. But, most visitors enjoy the Tillamook Ice Cream shop. Order a Dish, cone or waffle cone with the ice cream of your choice. Single scoop $2.00 to $2.75; a double scoop at $3.00 to $3.75 and Triple scoops for those who want to try it all from $3.75 to $4.50 the difference in price is due to the type of container you choose dish or waffle cone or sugar cone.
Many of the flavors of ice cream are specialty flavors such as Caramel Pecan Praline, Espresso Mocha, German Chocolate Cake, Grandma's Cake Batter and many more. Take home a quart for dessert after dinner or lunch.
Not only is this a great place for travelers to stop and refresh themselves or feed a craving it is a wonderful educational afternoon for children and adults alike. So next time you and your family are traveling on the Oregon Coast, enjoy the sun, sand, surf an cheese at the Tillamook Cheese Factory.
