NFC Championship Game Packers Vs Bears : Las Vegas Line & Pick Against the Spread
Chicago Bears & Green Bay Packers Renew a Storied Rivalry for Super Bowl Berth
The Chicago Bears are a team that has earned little respect from the NFL public and even less respect from the betting public this season. Jay Cutler has been inconsistent this season but his improved offensive line has made the Chicago Bears offense potent in the second half of the season.
Green Packers Offense vs Chicago Bears Defense
Aaron Rodgers is back and the Green Bay Packers offense is looking like a well oiled machine. Rookie James Starks has added a running game to the already potent passing attack of Rodgers. Rodgers had his way with the number one NFC seed, the Atlanta Falcons and he also made short work of Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles.
Rodgers has not faced the best defenses in the NFL Playoffs and he has struggled against the Chicago Bears defense in the past. Rodgers has learned to spread the ball around this season but it is obvious that Rodgers favorite on the deep routes is still Greg Jennings. When Jennings is on there is no one better and when he went through a spell of dropped passes Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers suffered.
The Chicago Bears defense has been their best asset all season and they are the reason why they are in the NFC Championship game. Julius Peppers is unstoppable when he is on his game from the outside at the defensive end position and he opens up opportunities for this aggressive defense.
The Chicago Bears are the second best run defense in the NFL but they are vulnerable against the pass. They rank 20th against opposing quarterbacks giving up 224 yards per game through the air. This does not bode well for a Chicago Bears defense that could have knocked the Green Bay Packers out of the NFL Playoffs in Week 17. The Green Bay Packers offense has the edge over the Chicago Bears defense.
Green Bay Packers Defense vs Chicago Bears Offense
The Green Bay Packers defense has been the unsung hero of this teams rise to a possible Super Bowl participant. Clay Mathews steals the headlines on this defense but there are plenty of other defenders on this team that are well deserving of credit.
Tramon Williams continues to be in the right place at the right time and picked off yet another pass against Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons. Williams benefits by playing opposite one of the best shut down corners in the NFL, Charles Woodson. Woodson was a factor throughout the game against the Falcons and put pressure on Ryan throughout the game.
Jay Cutler and the Chicago Bears offense has evolved over the course of the NFL season culminating with their win over the hapless Seattle Seahawks. Jay Cutler used his legs and his arm to beat the Seahawks with four touchdowns but against a defense that includes Clay Mathews it will be a rarity to see Cutler run the ball.
Matt Forte and Chester Taylor will once again be the keys to the success of the Chicago Bears offense. If Forte can establish the run early against the Green Bay Packers they will have a chance to keep Aaron Rodgers off the field. The Packers defense ranks 18th against the run and Forte rushed for 60 yards when used sparingly in Week 17. The Green Bay Packers defense and the Chicago Bears offense are even and neither has an advantage.
