NFC Championship: Giants vs. Packers Prediction

Bradley Tupe
This time of year is what the NFL is all about. The playoffs are the part of the season where the best the players have must be shown on the field. The regular season is almost forgotten in the midst of anticipation for the very next game. The Giants and the Packers are two teams that must provide evidence that they are ready for Super Bowl. I predict that the Packers have the edge over the Giants.

These Giants are a team that definitely has something to prove. With fans beginning to lose faith in Giants QB Eli Manning in mid season, he suddenly began to improve his performance getting them to the NFC championship, even though this is there first time there in about eight years. He has been just about flawless in the playoffs so far. Always being compared to his now Super Bowl winning brother, he trying to step out of that shadow and make something for himself. Softhearted fellow yeah, but he is the most important piece to this Giants offensive puzzle.

Packers QB Brett Favre has been here before. Favre is already a Hall of Famer. He has already established his name in this league. He's been throwing touchdowns for about two decades. This time around he has plenty of offensive weapons to unload on the Giants. He is the leader of this team and can be expected to be the reason the Packers win this game. This will be a repeat of their Week 2 regular season win.

With a couple of banged up go to guys, I can't see how the Giants can necessarily win this one. Eli has been looking really sharp as of late but with two of his main weapons (TE Jeremy Shockey and WR Plaxico Burress) not playing at optimal levels, that serves as the blow that could sink the Giant's ship. The Packers are just a great team offensively and could score a lot of points on the board. It will probably be up to the defense if Eli can't get into the red zone but with so many good offensive players to use, the Giants most likely will not stand a chance. Expect Packers RB Ryan Grant to run all over them if passing becomes slick.

I absolutely agree with everything said in the previous post. This article is misinformed and poorly written. And I can definitely agree now since we saw the Giants prove everyone wrong once again. Keep putting them down people. Superbowl here we come!!!!

Aside from your blatant grammatical errors and poor writing skills, some of the things you said are just plain irrelevant. You are aware that Shockey has been out for over a month and did not play in the Giants almost upset of the Patriots, their win against Tampa Bay, OR their win against Dallas. I fail to see your logic as to how his absence will be the Giants downfall. Furthermore, Burress has been injured ALL SEASON LONG. He didn't just recently incur this injury and suddenly it's going to hurt the Giants chances tomorrow.

Now you said Eli has improved and turned it around as of late, yet you say it will be a repeat of week 2. That game was lost in the 4th quarter by Eli turning the ball over. So since he hasn't turned the ball over once this post season, what makes you think it will be the same as week 2. Furthermore the Giants defense has made incredible leaps and bounds since week 2, going from one of the worst in the league to one of the best.
