NFL 2009 Week 1 Pick Against the Spread

Well week one of the NFL's 2009 season is almost here, so it's betting time! This week can sometimes be the easiest week to predict because the odds makers don't have a lot to go on. So lets get to it, here are my picks against the spread; the spread is based on 8/29/09 odds.

Tennessee +5 at Pittsburgh
It is tough to take Pittsburgh here because Tennessee is a good team and getting points, but I gotta go with Pittsburgh

Miami +4 at Atlanta
Atlanta opens the season at home trying to build off last year, the Dolphins were good last year but the Falcons should be very good this year. Take Atlanta minus the points.

Kansas City +9 at Baltimore
Kansas City looks to improve this year, but not against Baltimore. This is a large spread, but I still like Baltimore

Philadelphia +1 at Carolina
In basically a pickem' game, I am picking Carolina.

Denver +3.5 at Cincinnati
Denver is getting points this game, but they will stink this season. I know Cincinnati may not be the best team, but Denver may be the worst.

Minnesota -3 At Cleveland
This is my lock of the week, take Minnesota!! Minnesota looks playoff bound and only giving up 3 points, takes the Vikings and cash in.

NY Jets +4.5 at Houston
The Jets will be starting a rookie and Houston has a good pass rush, take Houston.

Jacksonville +6.5 at Indianapolis
Jacksonville is a solid team and although the Colts may be good, that is a lot of points, take Jacksonville.

Detroit +12 at New Orleans
Detroit is getting 12 points, but they didn't win a game last year and New Orleans can put up some points, so take the Saints minus the points.

Dallas -4 at Tampa Bay
Dallas is T.O. less this year, but I think they will be better. Take Dallas minus the points.

San Francisco +6.5 at Arizona
San Fran will stink again this year and Arizona almost won the Super Bowl, take Arizona.

Washington +6.5 at NY Giants
The Giants are Super Bowl bound; in my opinion anyway, take the Giants at home minus the points.

St. Louis +7 at Seattle
Neither of these teams look great, but I like Seattle at home.

Chicago +3 at Green Bay
Great game here, but I am not convinced yet about Cutler in Chicago. Take Green Bay minus the points.

Buffalo +10.5 at New England
If Brady plays take New England, if not take the Bills.

San Diego -7 at Oakland
San Diego will be good this year and Oakland not so good, take the Chargers minus the points.
