NFL Bad Boy Adam "Pac Man" Jones Out with Dallas Cowboys

As More Legal Problems Arise, Cowboys Cut Losses

Every time I hear about Adam "Pac Man" Jones getting into more off-field trouble I can't help but to think of the sound from the classic 1980s game Pac Man when the little yellow cheese wedge looking character would get caught by a ghost. You know, we-we-we-we-we-we-waka! Just like in the arcade game, so too has Adam "Pac Man" Jones had ghosts catch up with him, again, in the form of legal problems off the field. And just like in the game, this real life Pac Man is running out of lives as evident by the NFL bad boy getting cut by the Dallas Cowboys.

Jones' removal from the Cowboys came amidst new allegations of a shooting involving the NFL player. Three Atlanta men allege that Jones paid someone to shoot at them two months after he was suspended in 2007 from NFL commissioner Roger Goodel, a suspension that stemmed from a separate shooting at a strip club that may have involved Jones.

The Cowboys made their move after just one season (although not a complete season) after the Dallas Cowboys acquired Jones from the Tennessee Titans by trading a sixth-round draft pick in the upcoming NFL Draft for Jones. Jones was expected to bring some spark to the punt-return game and depth in the secondary for Dallas. But Jones had no interceptions on the year and averaged a paltry 4.6 yards per punt return. Jones missed six games of the season due to suspension because of an altercation he had with his body guard back on October 7th. He missed a seventh game with an injury (source: espn.com).

It is hard to feel bad for the Dallas Cowboys. Jones has seen multiple troubles with the law in his short tenure as an NFL player. Before coming to Dallas, Jones was arrested six times and involved in 12 instances requiring police intervention after Tennessee drafted him in the first round in 2005 (source: espn.com).

The question now is what team, if any, will be willing to take a risk with Jones after all that has happened? He has proven time and time again that he cannot stay out of trouble and as talented as he is, if he isn't playing in games because he is suspended, what good is he? If recent history serves as a model then Adam "Pac Man" Jones should be in an Oakland Raiders Jersey (sorry Raider fans, I blame Al Davis, not you) for week one next NFL season (if he isn't suspended). However he won't be back with the Dallas Cowboys as they have decided to just cut their losses and cut Jones. The Titans sure look like geniuses now don't they.
