First off all let me make it clear that I'm not picking on the west coast. They have endured having to rush home from work, eat supper, find out which kid got into trouble at school, and tell his or hers spouse that they love them and no you can't have any money this week; before the kickoff of a Monday night game. So my heart goes out to all you west coasters. Even the Sunday games start too early at 10:00 AM.
Idea Number 1: Never ever have a "double header on a Monday night again. It is just plain stupidity. The people on the west coast won't be able to see the whole first game and people on the east coast won't be able to watch all of the second game.
Idea Number 2: Get rid of these damn Thursday night games and put them on Sundays where they belong. The only Thursday games that should be allowed are on Thanksgiving Day when everyone is home. Not to mention that the NFL(National Football League) Network carries some of these games and our cable company doesn't carry the NFL Network. So there's another game I can't watch.
My last idea will probably be the least popular with people west of the Mississippi: 1 hour taped delays for each time zone. If a game starts at 9:00PM on the east coast, than it should start at 9:00PM on the west coast. Everyone in each time zone west of the west coast has to promise not to tell anyone in California, let's say, what the results are. I promise I won't say a word to any of my friends out there. And no Taz, it's not because I don't have any friends out there so save it.
It's a tough issue to tackle when you live in a country that has four different time zones but the NFL has gotten so greedy that they don't care about the spectator anymore, they care about who will give them the best deal. I remember when I was a kid and that all games were played on Sunday and 1 game Monday night and they were either on CBS, NBC, or ABC (Fox didn't exist then). Also you didn't need cable to watch football. Not true today as now you have to have cable to watch a Monday night game (thank you ESPN). You have to have the NFL Network on some games so even if you have cable you're screwed.
Here's what I do and I'm not sure if it's that economical; I go to a sports bar that gets all the games so I get to see my Broncos play. It only costs about 40 to 50 dollars after drinks and food for one person. Your only other choice is to get a satellite dish and get the NFL Ticket which costs a small fortune and unless you have 10 TV's and can concentrate on all the games, it's not worth it.
The NFL needs to pull their heads out of their ass and realize that on the path they're going; only the rich will be able to watch football and people will start to lose interest in the game. That is a slippery slope that they do not want to go down. I want to hear your ideas and how to tackle this problem. Maybe, just maybe we can make a diff.....I'm sorry, I don't believe that shit myself and could not say it with a straight face. Tell me what you think!
