NFL and College Football Best Bets for the Weekend of October 13

Best Bets for the Weekend of October 13, 2007. This weekend is full of great games from the NFL and College Football. These are the best bets on the board across the three sports. The best bets are:

College Football

South Carolina -6.5 over NORTH CAROLINA

South Carolina beat Kentucky to take control of the SEC East and they should be able to take on North Carolina at home. While UNC looked good last week against Miami, USC is a much better team than Miami and the Gamecocks defense should keep the Tar Heels in check.

Georgia -7 over VANDERBILT

Georgia took a beating last week from Tennessee and they will be out to prove themselves against Vanderbilt. This Vanderbilt team certainly isn't the one of Jay Cutler and they should be overmatched by the Bulldogs.

Alabama -6.5 over MISSISSIPPI

Nick Saban had the Tide in the top 25 a few weeks ago and they will be hungry to get back there. Mississippi is just not a very good football team and Alabama should be able to steamroll them. The only trouble is that this is a conference road game, those are always tough.

Tennessee -7 over MISSISSIPPI STATE

Tennessee showed how good they could be last weekend when they beat up on the Georgia Bulldogs. This week they have a much easier Bulldog team in Mississippi State. Tennessee should definitely be able to cover a one-touchdown line.

OREGON -18 over Washington State

Oregon is seeing themselves climb back up the polls this week after their loss to Cal. They have no more room for error and they will be more than willing to take advantage of an overmatched Washington State in this matchup.

LSU -9.5 over KENTUCKY

Kentucky took a big step backwards when they lost to South Carolina last week and LSU is a much better team than the Gamecocks. With all of the upsets of the past two weeks LSU would be very arrogant to look past Kentucky, especially with the recent success they have had.

MICHIGAN STATE -5.5 over Indiana

Michigan State is a pretty good football team and they are at home to play Indiana. While Indiana is not as terrible as they have been in years past, Michigan State should be able to win this game with ease.

USC -21 over Arizona

USC will be looking to make someone pay for last week's debacle and they will in no way be looking past Arizona because they cannot afford any more missteps. The Trojans are far superior to the Wildcats and they should be able to cover at home.

NFL

BROWNS -4.5 over Dolphins

The Browns are a pretty good football team. This team was the only one to not lose to the Patriots by more than 20 points, that has to say something. With Derek Anderson at quarterback they have really found an offense, and the Dolphins will have a hard time stopping them. 4.5 points is a gift.

Rams +9.5 over RAVENS

This game is plain and simple for me. I don't see any way that the Ravens can score enough points to win this game by double-digits. They will win in the end, but any points put on the board by the Rams will make it that much tougher.

CARDINALS -4 over Panthers

The Cardinals look like a completely different team with Kurt Warner at quarterback and he will be at the helm this weekend. His command of the offense is key as the Cardinals will put up the points necessary to beat the Panthers handily.

Giants -3 over FALCONS

The Falcons were impressive at home the other week, but that was against the Texans. The Giants really seemed to have turned a corner defensively and with some offensive support they should easily win this game.

REDSKINS/Packers under 40.5

The Redskins and the Packers both have great defenses, but their offenses could use some work. This line seems inflated because of the Redskins 34 point performance last weekend, but that was against the Lions. The Pack will be able to stop them more and I see a game in the teens for both teams.

RAVENS/Rams under 37

Two of the NFL's worst offenses so far this season will be playing in this game and I see know way that this will surpass 37 points. The Ravens defense also looked to turn a corner last week, making it look pretty impossible for the Rams to put up many points.
