NFL Conference Championship Previews

Previews and Predictions of Both Conference Title Games

The NFL playoffs have been pretty boring so far this year with only two of the eight games being close affairs. Three of the top seeds advanced to their conference championship, with the lone upset being the New York Jets. The following is a preview of this weekend's upcoming conference championship games.

The first game on Sunday will have the New York Jets in Indianapolis to take on the Colts. The Jets have already managed to pull two upsets in these playoffs, but I believe they will fall short of a third on Sunday. The Jets running game has been able to control games with help from the defense the only problem is that thsi weekend the Jets will be up against Peyton Manning. The Colts proved earlier this season in a win over the Miami Dolphins that they don't need to have the ball very long to win. In that Monday night game they had the ball less than 15 minutes in the, yet pulled out a 27-23 victory. If the Jets have to rely on quarterback Mark Sanchez to do anything but control the game then they are in real trouble. I think the Colts will get on the scoreboard early and never look back. Prediction: Colts 27, Jets 10.

In game two on Sunday the Minnesota Vikings will be in New Orleans to take on the Saints. Both quarterbacks, the Saints Drew Brees and the Vikings Brett Favre, were impressive this pass weekend. Both threw multiple touchdowns and didn't throw interceptions. Minnesota may be a little concerned with the running game as Adrian Peterson only had 63 yards on 26 carries this weekend. The Saints ground game on the other hand was surprising as Reggie Bush had 84 yards and a touchdown on only five carries. Bush also pitched in with a 83 yard punt return for another touchdown. Currently the Saints are favored by one point and who am I to go against the odd makers. Prediction Saints 28, Vikings 27.

So there you have it Super Bowl XLIV will have the Indianapolis Colts going against the New Orleans Saints, but please no wagering.
