NFL Conspiracy Theory - Denver Broncos, Oakland Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs Conspire to Crown San Diego Chargers 2009 AFC West Divisional Champions
Let the Crowning Begin
The one AFC West team in close contention with the San Diego Chargers in 2008 was the Denver Broncos. As conspiracies go, they need to fall the furthest in 2009. Bring in rookie Head Coach Josh McDaniels, trade away franchise quarterback Jay Cutler and start a circus with Brandon Marshall and the Broncos are doing an excellent job leading off the conspiracy to force the San Diego Chargers to win the AFC West in 2009.
To find the true beginning of this NFL conspiracy, we must travel back to the 2009 NFL draft. It was a crisp day in New York. The early picks were believable, if not expected. Matthew Stafford led the way. A few linemen went, on both sides of the ball, as usual. Aaron Curry. Mark Sanchez. On the radar was wide receiver Michael Crabtree. Then, with the seventh pick in the draft the Oakland Raiders selected wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey. Many people were shocked. It was not particularly shocking a move for Head Coach Al Davis. Maybe expected. The only thing Al Davis loves more than a good, televised nonsensical rant is speed. Al is now 80. He has a new head coach, Tom Cable. Tom Cable recently punched one of his assistant coaches. Even when the Denver Broncos have Brandon Marshall throwing temper tantrums on video at football practice, the Oakland Raiders find a way to one up them in the conspiracy to force the San Diego bolts to take the AFC West divisional crown, again.
The Kansas City Chiefs began their NFL conspiracy activities by also naming a new head coach and giving millions of dollars to and subsequently crowning a franchise quarterback. Not Jay Cutler - he went to the Bears. Not Brett Favre - he finally ended up with the Minnesota Vikings. So, what franchise quarterback did the Kansas City Chiefs snag? Matt Cassel. "Who?" you say. Matt Cassel, Tom Brady's former backup. The quarterback who only has one NFL season (zero in college) under his belt. Having one good season didn't mean much in the long term for Derek Anderson (29 TDs and 3,787 yards in 2007), who starts the 2009 NFL Season backing up Brady Quinn in Cleveland. But, back to Matt Cassel. He got injured during the pre-season. So, he'll need all the help he can get, but the Chiefs are part of an NFL conspiracy - one bad move does not make a conspiracy. While paying new, young quarterback Matt Cassel tens of millions; the Kansas City Chiefs traded away his primary target - perennial pro-bowl tight end Tony Gonzalez. As it was, the Chiefs were 2-14 in 2008.
To add to the conspiracy, Shawne Merriman is back for the San Diego Chargers. The Denver Broncos, Oakland Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs have paved the perfect path for him to sacking the AFC West divisional crown in the 2009 football season. Go Chargers! How could you not look like lightning bolts in such a division, wrought with conspiracy. To top it off, Tila Tequila even joined in on the conspiracy to give Shawne Merriman a little extra motivation, just in case he needs it. I mean, apart from steroids.

This article is the biggest load of crap I have ever read in sports. Yea they are doing a great job of playing into the conspiracy at 3-0...what an idiot.
Generally, good points, although Arizona Cardinals fans might take umbrage with that... and San Diego Chargers fans who love saying they have the most talent. I wonder if it has anything to do with how early football games are played? I mean, NFL football at 10am? - it just seems wrong.
Football is not competitive on the West Coast (besides USC) and the State of Ohio in the NFL and NCAA. Think about it. The AFC-NFC West are pretty much terrible. USC OWNs the Pac 10, Ohio State keeps getting shellacked in Big Games, and the Browns - Bengals get blown out every Sunday...
Sadly you are correct about my lowly Chiefs.
