NFL Divisional Playoff Predictions

NFL Playoff Predictions:

Green Bay at Seattle:

The Green Bay Packers facing the Seattle Seahawks in Green Bay. This game is the most evenly matched game of the divisional playoffs. However, the Packers led by the resurgent gunslinger Brett Favre should win this hotly contested game. T he Packers are second in the league in passing yards per game while Seattle's pass defense has been pedestrian. Favre should have little difficulty picking apart the Seattle secondary. Seattle's run defense has been staunch allowing just over one hundred yards per game, but the Packers offensive attack will focus on the passing attack.

Seattle's rushing attack has been terrible since the injury to Shaun Alexander last year and the Packers should have little trouble stopping the rush. However, Matt Hasselbeck should keep the game close with his proficiency in the passing game. Hasselbeck has carried the Seattle teams to great success, but their good fortune ends in Green Bay. The home field advantage provide by Lambeau Field will prove to be too much for Seattle.

Jacksonville at New England

New England has been unstoppable this year with the first undefeated season since the 1972 Miami Dolphins, which makes them the clear favorite in this game. Their offense has been unstoppable and with a doubt the class of the NFL. Jacksonville has one of the best defenses in the league, but cannot hope to stop the Patriots offense. At best, they will be able slow down the high-powered Patriots.

Defensively the Patriots have an employed a bend, but don't break mentality. The defense is the Achilles heel of this team and has shown a clear vulnerability. The strength of the Jaguars is the rushing of Maurice Jones Drew and Fred Taylor. However, the Patriots run defense has been staunch and should neutralize the rushing attack of Jacksonville. The passing attack of the Jaguars has been sufficient under the stewardship of David Gerrard, but will not be enough to keep the Jaguars in the Game. Look for yet another Patriots win.

New York Giants at Dallas

The New York Giants are heading into Dallas fresh off an impressive win. Eli Manning is the talk of the town with his impressive play in the win. However, many forget that up until last week Manning was the goat of New York and showed no prior flashes of brilliance in the playoffs. The Giants are reeling from injuries to Shockey, O'Hara and several other players. The defense is playing at an impressive level, but the offense cannot be expected to match Dallas. Even with questions regarding the health of Terrell Owens the Cowboys offense should be adequate. Dallas should have little trouble wreaking havoc on Eli and the Giants' offense. Look for an easy victory for Dallas.

San Diego at Indianapolis

This game is the most interesting of the weekend. Both teams sport impressive offenses with Indianapolis having a slightly better offense. However, San Diego has a much stronger defense especially considering the absence of Dwight Freeney for Indianapolis. Indianapolis lost a closely contested game to San Diego already in week nine of this season. Additionally, the Chargers are playing with a chip on their shoulders after last year's disappointing loss to the Patriots. The Chargers are chomping at the bit to lay the Patriots again in the conference final. Look for the Chargers offense to come close to matching the Indy offense. However, San Diegos superior defense should put them over the top in this game. San Diego will pull off an incredible upset and knock off Peyton Manning and the defending Super Bowl champions.
