NFL Divisional Playoffs Seahawks Vs Bears: Las Vegas Line & Pick Against the Spread

Seattle Seahawks Look to Continue Unlikely Run by Beating Chicago Bears

Todd Jacobs
The Chicago Bears will host their NFL Divisional Playoffs game against the 7-9 Seattle Seahawks Sunday January 16th. The older Chicago Bears get the much needed rest for the bye week and now their defense will be healthy and prepared to meet the Seattle Seahawks.

The Seattle Seahawks made their way to the NFL Divisional Playoffs by beating the defending Super Bowl champs in their home Qwest Field. Now the task will be tougher for the Seahawks as they head to Soldier Field. Matt Hasselbeck will be facing the toughest defense he has faced all season when he looks down the barrel at Julius Peppers, Brian Urlacher and Lance Briggs.

Chicago Bears Offense vs Seattle Seahawks Defense

Jay Cutler and the Chicago Bears offense have been struggling to find their identity the entire season. As the NFL Playoffs approached the offense has finally evolved into a run first offense under Mike Martz. The Chicago Bears offensive line still has holes but the running ability of Matt Forte has helped them establish a play action pass threat. This has helped Cutler but time in the pocket he did have early in the NFL season.

The Chicago Bears offensive numbers are not impressive but they have won games and they are hosting an NFL Divisional Playoff game. The pass offense under Mike Martz is averaging only 190 yards per game and they have been inconsistent with Cutler at the helm. The rushing game is only averaging 100 yards per game but they are improving.

The Seattle Seahawks defense has been much maligned this season and the New Orleans Saints scored 36 points on them in the their 41-36 loss to the Seahawks. The Chicago Bears defense is not going to give up more than their average of 17 points per game.

The Seattle Seahawks are vulnerable to the deep ball and they will have to keep an eye on Johnny Knox and look out for Devin Hester to make a few plays down the field. The Chicago Bears offense has the edge over the Seattle Seahawks defense.

Chicago Bears Defense vs Seattle Seahawks Offense

Defense is the reason the Chicago Bears are in the NFL Divisional Playoffs. Brian Urlacher's return to the defense has spurred a revival of one of the best NFL defenses. Lance Briggs has picked up the pace and the addition of Juilius Peppers has created havoc up front for the defense. Peppers is also a huge key to get Urlacher and Briggs freed up to play the pass or blitz.

The Chicago Bears are shutting down the run effectively. They are only allowing 90 yards per game on the ground and they are punishing rushers in the secondary as well. Against the pass the Chicago Bears are yielding 220 yards but they have been strong.

Is the Seattle Seahawks Marshawn Lynch for real or was that an aberration last weekend when he made one of the most incredible NFL Playoff runs in the history of the NFL. Lynch is inconsistent and the Chicago Bears defense will have an answer for him. Don't expect to see Urlacher or Briggs to get smoked as badly as the New Orleans Saints.

Matt Hasselbeck is back for the Seattle Seahawks and it is hard to argue that he looked great against the New Orleans Saints. Hasselbeck threw for four touchdowns and spread the ball around as the Seahawks won Saturday.

Mike Williams is a threat on the edge and a big target for Hasselbeck and if those two can hook up in cold weather Seattle has a chance to cover. The Chicago Bears defense has the edge over the Seattle Seahawks offense.

Seattle Seahawks vs Chicago Bears -10: Pick Against the Spread & Breakdown

The Las Vegas Hilton Superbook has made the Chicago Bears a heavy ten point favorite over the Seattle Seattle for their NFL Divisional Playoff game. The Seattle Seahawks are 2-6 against the spread on the road and have played their worst football when away from Qwest Field.

The Chicago Bears are 8-7-1 against the spread overall and they are 4-4 against the spread in Soldier Field. Defense will play a huge role in this game but in the end Matt Forte and Jay Cutler must produce on offense. Take the Chicago Bears -10 points over the Seattle Seahawks.
