New York Jets Will Attempt to Erase Memory of 45-3 Beating at Hands of New England Patriots

The New England Patriots will host the New York Jets January in what will amount to the rubber match between the two AFC East rivals. The New England Patriots had the last laugh between the two when they beat the New York Jets 45-3. The New York Jets defense gave Tom Brady his toughest game of the season when they intercepted two passes off of Brady and defeated him.

New England Patriots Offense vs New York Jets Defense

Tom Brady and the New England Patriots offense has been tough to contain the second half of the season and although their offensive numbers may not be impressive their skill and precision is what makes this years version of the New England Patriots.

It may not be fair to say the New England Patriots offense kicked into high gear once Randy Moss was traded to the Minnesota Vikings but it does appear to be true. Tom Brady is now spreading the ball around on offense and the running game has been a staple of the New England Patriots this season.

The New York Jets defense kept the Indianapolis Colts and Peyton Manning under wraps in the NFL Wild Card Playoff game. Manning was limited to only 225 yards passing and Reggie Wayne was taken out of the game by the best cover corner in the NFL Darrelle Revis.

Tom Brady has had one of his worst games of the season against the New York Jets defense and one of his best. The New York Jets defense loves to bring the heat and they love to gamble. This game will involve plenty of cat and mouse games especially between Brady and the defense. The New England Patriots offense has the edge over the New York Jets defense.

New England Patriots Defense vs New York Jets Offense

The young New England Patriots defense has made plenty of mistakes this season but they have evolved into one of the best defenses in the NFL. The linebacker duo of Jerod Mayo and Patrick Chung have been devastating and rookie corner Devin McCourty has been improving with every game. Now the real test for the New England Patriots will come in the NFL Divisional Playoffs.

Mark Sanchez and the anemic New York Jets offense are not very productive again this season. With a defense
as good as the New York Jets defense there is no need for Mark Sanchez to make rash decisions and mistakes in order to catch his team up.

LaDanian Tomlinson, the New York Jets off season free agent acquisition has fresh legs for the NFL Playoffs and he looked strong in the win over the defending AFC Champion Indianapolis Colts. Tomlinson and Shonn Greene combined for 169 yards combined against a Colts defense that had been shutting down the run in the last four regular season games. The New England Patriots defense has the edge over the New York Jets offense.

New York Jets vs New England Patriots -9: Pick Against the Spread & Breakdown

The Las Vegas Hilton Superbook has made the New England Patriots a seven point favorite over the New York Jets in Foxboro for their NFL Divisional Playoff game. The New York Jets are 5-3 against the spread during the regular season and they are 1-0 on the road against the spread in the NFL Playoffs.

The New England Patriots are 10-5-1 against the spread overall and they are 4-3-1 against the spread on their home field. Tom Brady and Bill Belichik have had two weeks to prepare for this game and the mad genius Belichik will have some new wrinkles up his sleeve for Rex Ryan and the New York Jets.
