NFL Draft 2009

Neoavatara
With the draft quickly approaching (90 days and counting), NFL diehards are looking what players their team will land. Here is my look at the Draft.

1. Detroit Lions - Andre Smith, OT, Alabama

They wanted Sam Bradford, but with him returning to school, they finally make a safe choice. Stafford would be a risk at No.1; he has top flight talent, but did he ever prove to be great at Georgia?

2. St. Louis Rams - Eugene Monroe, OT, Virginia

The wanted Jake Long last year, want Andre Smith this year...but Monroe is a nice consolation prize.

3. Kansas City Chiefs - Matthew Stafford, QB, Georgia

They get their QB of the future.

4. Seattle Seahawks - Michael Crabtree, WR, Texas Tech

The big time playmaker in this years draft.

5. Cleveland Browns - Aaron Curry, LB, Wake Forest

They need more defense.

6. Cincinati Bengals - Briat Orakpo, DE, Texas

Cincy needs everything, and the Nagurski winner is a nice catch.

7. Oakland Raiders - Jeremy Maclin, WR, Missouri

Davis loves speed...and Maclin may be the fastest guy out there.

8. Jacksonville Jaguars - Malcolm Jenkins, DB, Ohio State

The best DB in the class, he is a shut down corner in the making.

9. Green Bay Packers - Michael Johnson, DE, Georgia Tech

A first class defensive lineman.

10. San Francisco 49ers - Mark Sanchez, QB, USC

Home state hero. Will they correct the Smith QB mistake from years past?

11. Buffalo Bills - Brandon Pettigrew, TE, Oklahoma State

The Bills need offensive punch, and this guy will give it to them.

12. Denver Broncos- Aaron Maybin, DE, Penn State

A power lineman that can be a force if he lives up to his potential.

13. Washington Redskins - B.J. Raji, DE, Boston College

A first class rush lineman.

14. New Orleans Saints - Ray Maualuga, LB, USC

Maybe the most impactful LB in the country.

15. Houston Texans - Everette Brown, DE, Florida State

A quality DE, and excellent value in the mid first round.

16. San Diego Chargers - Knowshon Moreno, RB, Georgia

If Darren Sproles leaves, this guy would make an excellent replacement.

17. New York Jets - Vontae Davis, DB, Illinois

Would firm up the Jets secondary.

18. Chicago Bears - Percy Harvin, WR, Florida

The Bears need some excitement in their offense, and Harvin adds just that.

19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Beanie Wells, RB Ohio State

A power back, maybe the best in the class, is a steal at #19.

20. Detroit Lions - Brian Cushing, LB, USC

The Lions need everything, and defense is always a good choice.

21. Philadelphia Eagles - Jason Smith, OT, Baylor

Probably a top 10 talent.

22. Minnesota Vikings - D.J. Moore, DB, Vanderbilt

A fine corner to build the Minnesota secondary.

23. New England Patriots - Tyson Jackson, DE, LSU

A steal at 23.

24. Atlanta Falcons - Peria Jerry, DT, Ole Miss

Will help their rush defense instantly.

25. Miami Dolphins - James Laurinaitis, LB, Ohio State

Dropped from a top 10 pick to late first round by staying an extra year in college.

26. Baltimore Ravens - Darrius Heyward-Bey, WR, Maryland

Instantly becomes Joe Flacco's best friend.

27. Indianapolis Colts - Sen'Derrick Marks, DT, Auburn

Who knows who the coach will be; but defense wins championships.

28. Philadelphia Eagles - LeSean McCoy, RB, Pitt

There running back of the future.

29. New York Giants - Hakeem Nicks, WR, North Carolina

Got to replace gun toting Plaxico Burress.

30. Tennessee Titans - Larry English, DE, Northern Illinois

They would like a big time wide receiver, but with the best talent off the board, they go defense.

31. Arizona Cardinals* - Shonn Greene, RB, Iowa (assuming they lose the Super Bowl...)

The next best running back on the draft board.

32. Pittsburgh Steelers' - Duke Robinson, OG Oklahoma (assuming they win the Super Bowl)

The Steelers need to work on the O line including the depth. It'll be the best O linemen available here.
