NFL Draft 2010: Arizona Cardinals Final Draft Breakdown

The Arizona Cardinals 2010 NFL Draft focused on a few immediate impact players and some players that will develop over the next few years. The first two picks of the Arizona draft are two defensive players. Dan Williams a big Defensive tackle to stop the run and Daryl Washington a hard hitting linebacker. Arizona also looked down the line a few years by grabbing a smooth, smart quarterback out of Fordham, John Skelton.

Arizona Cardinals first NFL Draft pick and 26th overall Dan Williams.
Dan Williams, a huge defensive tackle out of Tennessee, will be counted on to plug up the run defense for Arizona. Arizona's defense was solid in the first half of the season but they appeared to tire as the playoffs began. Arizona will hope that Williams can take over as the nose tackle for the next ten years and menace opposing team's big centers and interior lineman. Williams will be used in the rotation seeing playing time on first and second downs in his first NFL season.

Arizona Cardinals second NFL Draft pick and 47th overall Daryl Washington.
Daryl Washington, is an instinctive linebacker from TCU, that has a big opportunity to make it as a starter right of the bat. Washington reacts well to the ball and knows where a receiver or runner is going before they do sometimes. Washington is a great pursuit tackler and can deliver a bone jarring hit when the opportunity presents itself. Washington will see a lot of playing time in his first NFL season.

Arizona Cardinals third NFL Draft pick and 88th overall Andre Roberts.
Andre Roberts, a wide receiver from the small school The Citadel, is no Anquan Boldin but he will be expected to produce in his first NFL season. Roberts will be learning from one of the best wide receivers in the business, Larry Fitzgerald and what he does with that knowledge will translate directly to his playing time. Roberts will see action in third down four and five receiver sets in his first NFL season.

Arizona Cardinals fourth NFL Draft pick and 139th overall O'Brien Schofield.
O'Brien Schofield, a defensive end coming out of Wisconsin, is a big gamble by Arizona in this spot. Schofield is coming off a knee injury that occurred during the Senior Bowl. Arizona will most likely not have Schofield for training camp but they will be able to work him in slowly and develop him into a good outside defensive end. Schofield will see a little action during his first NFL season.

Arizona Cardinals fifth NFL Draft pick and 155th overall John Skelton.
John Skelton, a quarterback from Fordham, is a small school quarterback that can translate to the NFL eventually. Skelton will be missing that veteran quarterback that can nurture him though and that may hurt his development. Arizona may already be addressing this problem though. Skelton will learn on the bench in his first NFL season.

Arizona Cardinals sixth NFL Draft pick and 201st overall Jorrick Calvin.
Jorrick Calvin, a defensive back from Troy, could develop into a solid cornerback over time as long as he is not rushed into action in his first NFL season. Calvin is most likely a back up at the defensive back position and will be a great candidate for special teams. Calvin will play in his first NFL season.

Arizona Cardinals seventh NFL Draft pick and 233rd overall Jim Dray.
Jim Dray, is a blocking tight end out of Stanford, that has a solid opportunity to make the team. The blocking tight end is now a popular key to the new scheme of the evolving offenses. Dray will be used as another offensive lineman playing in the tight end spot on most running downs. Dray will see a lot of playing time as a blocking tight end in the 2010 NFL season.
