NFL Fantasy Football: Week 1 Waiver Wire and Free Agent Aquisitions
Who Are the Week One Stars Who Came from Nowhere? Who Can You Get from the Waiver Wire to Fill Gaps in Your Team?
Byron Leftwich - QB, Tampa Bay
Byron Leftwich had the ninth most points of any NFL quarterback in week one. He will remain the starter for week two when Tampa Bay plays the Buffalo Bills, who allowed 368 yards in passing on week one, more than the lowly Lions facing Bree's and his six score game. If you need a week 2 quarterback then look at Leftwich, he may just help push your fantasy football team over the top.
Mike Bell - RB, New Orleans
Mike Bell took over for Pierre Thomas in the Saints week one win over the Detroit Lions. In a bid to get a starting NFL job, Bell scorched the Lions for 143 yards on 28 carries. Word out of New Orleans is that even if Pierre Thomas is ready to play this week, Mike Bell could remain the starting running back. Bell will at least split carries this coming weekend and with the high octane offense of the Saints, he will get his chances after they secure a lead. If you are a Thomas owner, you absolutely must handcuff him with Mike Bell.
Devry Henderson - WR, New Orleans
Another Saints player, not surprising with the style of offense they play. Devry Henderson got his fair share of targets last weekend, grabbing five balls for 103 yards and a score. They play the Jets this week and he stands to have another big day. If you need a receiver this week, think about Devry Henderson if he's available on the waiver wire or as a free agent.
Atlanta Falcons - TDSP
The Falcons play at Carolina this week, so this may not be the safest pickup, however if you need an NFL defense this week, the Falcons have shown they have what it takes. The Falcons tallied up four sacks and a pick last week and should be able to put up at least similar numbers this week.
John Carney - K, New Orleans
Another Saint! The Saints score a lot of points, and that's what you're looking for if you're in the market for a free agent kicker. Carney is starting for at least another week or two and should still be available in the free agent market.
These players should be able to help you fill any gaps you have for your coming weeks match-up. Good luck fantasy football players.
