One thing to note is that we even got hit during the Sunday day games in our weekly newsletter going 1-3, watched San Diego come alive and bash our strategized parlay play of New England to the OVER, but made up a little ground with the Cleveland to the OVER parlay for those who chose to play it. However, we left it optional since we hit the $100 mark which for the couple hundred that are getting the newsletters every week you know what we're talking about and everything. That leaves us at 23-10 overall dropping us to around 61%.
So, If you want to add yourself to the list then put your email below or go to the Best NFL Picks Free website and sign up there. Okay, now lets get to Week 7 and your NFL game picks.
San Diego at Buffalo
Well isn't this one of those interesting games when a decent team comes off a bye and has to play a team that looked like a Super Bowl caliber juggernaut. One thing to ask though is whether or not Buffalo is for real, or just a bunch of pretenders getting help from their schedule. We'll take the pretender route and go with the fact that the Chargers are back. Then again the last time we said this they lost to Miami.
It's just the kind of year we're having and we believe that Buffalo is going to have a hard time running the ball. Of course, we've been wrong about a time or two, but our NFL game picks will start off on the right foot with a Charger win. Chalk it up on your free NFL picks as well.
San Diego 24 Buffalo 14
Minnesota at Chicago
Boy, these two teams lived and died by the field goal in the waning moments of each of their games didn't they? Granted, the Bears had no business squibbing and giving the Falcons a one play field goal range shot, but it's their own fault for calling it. This week's matchup is a rivalry that has lasted years upon years and looks to be another slugfest this weekend. Let's just say you don't want to go down a game with wild cards being scarce in the NFC.
The problem that Chicago has is containing the pass here recently and while Gus Frerotte is no Drew Brees, he and Bernard Berrian are starting to gel well together. The loss to the Falcons might have taken a little wind out of the Bears sails in the Windy City and they may come out flat. We're adding the Vikes to our list of NFL game picks for this week.
Minnesota 24 Chicago 14
Pittsburgh at Cincinnati
Well, this pick will rest on the fact that Carson Palmer is playing. Actually it really doesn't matter, we're taking the Steelers. Even though we would have taken the Jets last week if we wrote it after Palmer was ruled out, we still thought they would cover the spread. However, with Pittsburgh coming off a bye, Big Ben resting that beat up body of his, and Willie Parker coming back there should be a lot of points in this game.
Oh, here's the kicker, the Bengals can't pressure the quarterback unless it's the Cleveland Browns so Rothy will have plenty of time to throw the ball. Granted we think a lot of points will be put up this week and the over looks pretty stout, but the end result will be a Cincinnati loss. Chalk up another three or four turnovers for the boys in orange and black.
Pittsburgh 31 Cincinnati 20
Tennessee at Kansas City
Ha, we were just going to put K.C. doesn't have a chance here and be done with it. While it would be funny, it's the truth because the only thing they have going for them right now is the fact that they can market Tony Gonzalez and get a great draft pick for him. Since Tennessee is lights out against the run and Larry Johnson is their only offense, this came could be over before it started.
Then again it's not like the Titans are going to score 35 points because they're just not built that way. In fact, the game against the the Bengals where they won 24-7 was their biggest output of the year. Good thing you only need to win by 1 as they move forward with that 6-0 record. In the meantime it just helps our NFL game picks for this week and hopefully a 4-0 record to this point.
Tennessee 20 Kansas City 6
Dallas at St. Louis
Ouch. It's all we can say for the NFC East this past week as both the Cowboys and the Redskins screwed around long enough to lose. On the flipside it probably made the Rams feel good, but all you St. Louis fans out there don't need to get too excited. The Cowboys are going to blow this game wide open and while you could put up some points, they'll probably double it.
Nick Folk has to be kicking himself in the wazzou for missing that field goal at the end of the first half as should the entire offensive line on that punt. Good news is we took the Cardinals and they look like the clear choice in the West to win the division already up 2 games on their adversaries. In this game though the Cowboys will be seeking redemption in a big way.
Dallas 35 St. Louis 17
Baltimore at Miami
Wow, the wildcat offense against the defense that just got lit up for a whopping 31 points and the Indianapolis Colts. Due to the injuries that the Ravens are incurring week in and week out there is nothing that leads us to believe they're going to score a lot against the Dolphins. Until they do we'll be picking against them as well and the cellar dweller AFC North excluding the Steelers.
Remember, Flacco is the starter the rest of the year and while he did start 2-0, so did Ryan Leaf back in his hey-dey. Hopefully Joe doesn't take that route and after about four years he ends up looking like another rookie who started his career 2-0. Who's that you might ask? John Elway. Yep, there's your little bit of useless information for this week and another winner on our list of NFL game picks.
Miami 24 Baltimore 10
San Francisco at NY Giants
Well, while we would like to tell you that San Francisco has a shot in this game thanks to the 0-5 teams getting wins last week, we just can't. The final 5 minutes of their game against Philadelphia simply showed they are still young in the mental game and could blow up at any moment. We have a feeling this is what will happen against the Super Bowl champs. Once you take Gore out of the equation, the Niners just don't sound very competitive.
The Giants are coming off a sad loss against the Browns and look to make up for that ridiculous 3 interception showing from Eli Manning. Now that we know they won't go undefeated, they're definitely going to be in the playoffs unless they fall off the map in the 2nd half of the season. The Niners may hit some field goals and a possible touchdown but this is the makings of a route.
NY Giants 34 San Francisco 13
New Orleans at Carolina
Another division matchup for the NFC South and trying to sort out all the 4-2 records. The Saints need this game landing in last place at this point with a 3-3 record. So, what can we expect from this game? We have to go with a low scoring affair like 24-20. For some reason that's the number we like for the division and it sounds odd to say it's low scoring, but for New Orleans it really is and so-so for Carolina.
While New Orleans looks like the easy pick after watching what transpired in Week 6, they aren't on our list of NFL game picks this week. To be honest this is the first game where we feel it's up in the air, but it's just because we hate picking in this erratic division. Let's just put it this way. New Orleans doesn't play well on the road, but looking up at everyone else could get their heads on straight. Having Colston back at 90% or better is key. So we're actually going to go with the Saints even though we weren't a few seconds ago.
New Orleans 24 Carolina 20
Detroit at Houston
Hey, hey, hey. Raise your hand if you were dead set on this game being to teams who were both 0-fer? Well, we did too, and if not for the last second field goal by the Vikings everyone would have been right. We will say one thing though, there has to be something to this 5-1 record (should be 6-0) that the Texans have at home running back to last year. So guess what we're going to do? Ride the bull all the way to Reliant baby!
For my friend that is a loyal Lions fan I hate to say it, but they are bad. They have 3 wins on the road since 2006 and with a sputtering offense look for that trend to continue. Granted we've liked Orlovsky for awhile and thought he would do well in the Martz scheme, but the chance was never there. He'll be able to throw against the Houston secondary like everyone else and their mom, but the defense will give Schaub and company a chance to put up a 40 spot or more on the board.
Houston 41 Detroit 28
NY Jets at Oakland
The last time Favre had the opportunity to play out in Oakland it was a Monday Night Football game and his father had just moved on to the promise land. He through for 311 yards (399 total) and 4 TDs in the first half. The route was on and Green Bay blew Oakland out of the water 41-7. Granted, the emotions won't be as high this time around, but the Raiders were just as bad as they are now finishing the season 4-11.
It's safe to say the transition is in full swing in Raider Country and even though they'll have a nice long trip to California, the Jets will come out the victors when it's all said and done. Brett should look like the kid again out there slinging the ball around and both Coles and Cotchery should do you good for fantasy points after their dismal performances during Week 6 thanks to 3 TDs by Thomas Jones.
NY Jets 28 Oakland 14
Indianapolis at Green Bay
This really has the makings of a great matchup and probably our favorite by far for the week. The Colts proved in Week 6 that Manning is ready to take the reigns once again without thought of his surgically repaired knee and throw, throw, throw the ball. The Packers will want to captialize on their win in Seattle, but we really don't see it happening. Unless of course they can keep the Colts off balance with the running attack.
The downfall to the game against the Ravens is the fact that all the Colts needed to do was contain the run. Flacco is no Rodgers which could mean their first win at Jim Lucas Stadium could have been a fluke as far as their powerhouse performance. The Packers on the other hand aren't going to want to be looking up at either the Vikings or Bears after one of them breaks open the division a little. If they plan on keeping pace they'll have to get the upset. In our minds the Vikings will be standing alone.
Indianapolis 27 Green Bay 24
Cleveland at Washington
Uh oh, after we jinxed the Redskins last week they once again have to deal with a possible upset. The Browns are one of those teams that could possibly get things going, but for some reason they just don't. Then again the big win against the Giants might help. So now you've got a team possibly on the rise against a team that has no idea what just happened. Well, the Brownies still probably don't know what happened. Anyways, we'll take the Redskins for some redemption this week. Especially getting Cleveland on a short week and playing at home.
Washington 27 Cleveland 17
